ABOUT ME

We are two sociable young (26 and 25 respectively) kiwis, who're taking a year off from responsibilities to experience new things, get some perspective on the world. Not necessarily just for pure enjoyment but also to take something a little meaningful away from our travels. Well OK, also to enjoy ourselves..

We've been living and working in Melbourne, Aus for two years.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well!! Our first hurdle is to start getting involved. we're a bit clueless about the Couch surfing thing at the moment. Suffice to say we've always enjoyed meeting people, swapping stories and learning about new places. Also looking forward to hosting people when we get back to NZ so we can share some of things we love about our Country.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well we've had very few Couchsurfing(TM) experiences, but heaps of "couchsurfing" experiences. We've always enjoyed having people come to stay with us, and had a number of visitors over the last couple of years in Melbourne.

Interests

We love travelling (obviously)
Both of us love to Sail and LOVE the outdoors.
Clare spent a lot of her childhood sailing and is still smitten with it today. Clare is a knitting fiend and has almost always has a project on the go (much to the amusement of the ladies on the chinese trains).
I (Tom)enjoy Rock Climbing (obsessed is the word
Clare likes to use), painting, most outdoor sports,and having a good old fashioned rant accompanied by a nice dark beer.
We both enjoy going out for a few drinks, meeting new people and experiencing new places.
We also both love to get out and about in the wilderness - hiking, camping etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

Enjoy a fairly ecclectic mix of books, and it's difficult to write this for both us!
Books we have both enjoyed are autobiographical works by various people.
a few old favourite titles (tom): Seven Years in Tibet, The Great Gatsby, On The Road, Tiger adventure (ahh, well it was my absolute favorite when i was 8)
I try to read books that will teach me something, which naturally means I take on book that is way too dry for me and end up reading bad Sci-Fi novels instead..sigh.
Clare :

We can both normally be caught singing along if a disney movie is playing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While still finishing off at uni i (clare)bought a 16ft yacht and got to work doing her up. After graduating we took her to the Bay of Islands in New Zealand and spent 5 days living in her tiny little cabin and sailing around one of the most beautiful places in the world. I felt very privileged to be able to experience that!
