About Me

Hello! My name is Clarisa and though I consider myself an independent woman, the first time I travelled alone and so far was 3 years ago, when I decided it was time to lose fear and start living my dreams. It was an excellent experience and that encouraged me to make new trips.
I have been working for 17 years as a secretary at a medical center in Buenos Aires, every day the same faces, the same scenery and the same tasks.
The only time I feel I can breathe, feel free and enjoy is when I can get to know cities and cultures different from mine.
My passion, besides traveling, is the photography. In Buenos Aires I perform professionally work (especially Books of pregnant women, children and families), but what I really enjoy is taking pictures when I travel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Traveling is the thing that I enjoy the most and CouchSurfing is a very exciting way to do it!
A few years ago, when I traveled to Europe for the first time, I had my first experience of Couchsurfing and I liked it so much I wanted to repeat.
I think getting in touch with other travelers and residents from new places is the best way to know a city, have fun and get in touch with the culture and the daily life of the place I’m visiting.
I think every person enjoys life in a different way and respecting that is very important for me.

Interests

I love photography, especially its power to capture images, gestures, moments. In my spare time I try to keep learning, watching videos on YouTube or reading books on the subject.
I enjoy a lot theater, series and books. But what really excites me is the cinema. A good movie can transport you for hours to other worlds and other stories, make you think and thrill, and I think that is unpayable.
I also like art, music and, above all, the chocolates!
A few years ago I could make some courses on cinema, art history and photography. I always try to learn more about what I like. Unfortunately, I have a bad memory and do not always remember what they taught me, but the pleasure of hearing about these issues is never lost.

Music, Movies, and Books

Among my favorite authors are Ray Bradbury, Philip K. Dick, Bukowski, Elmore Leonard, Stephen King, Paul Auter, Aldous Huxley, Dalton Trumbo. I like the suspense, science fiction, horror and police, although of course I have been fascinated by texts of other subjects.
I feel it is quite impossible to say just a few movies, because I just love everything that has to do with films, but some of my favorite directors are Woody Allen, Alfred Hitchcock, Wes Anderson, Scorsese, Paul Thomas Anderson. Movies like Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, Terminator, Die Hard are some of my childhood that I look again and again. I am interested in classic cinema, independent cinema, action, suspense and comedy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think my travels are the memories That I love the most and that I remember as the most amazing things.
I feel that one of the most amazing things I have done is encourage myself to travel alone to cities as distant and different from mine. It's easy to become paralyzed by fear and uncertainty, but I once read that the only trip I could regret is the one I haven’t done, and I totally agree with that.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn about the cultures from all around the world, and sharing details about my culture and daily life in my country.
I love to teach photography or, if you still do not know, Spanish. And of course everything I know about films.
I think that with CouchSurfing the most important thing that is shared, is the opportunity to live with people living in the city you are visiting.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my little experience, my lectures on film, photography and talk about Buenos Aires.

Countries I’ve Visited

Brazil, Chile, England, France, Israel, Italy, Peru, Spain, United States, Uruguay
