About Me

CURRENT MISSION

learn more (you never learn enough!)

ABOUT ME

I'm talkative. At least in German, Spanish and English. But I don`t only like hear myself talking but I`m also interested in other people and cultures, this is why I ended up here ;)
formal facts: I've studied media/communication and intercultural communication since 2005. I spent two years on an extended Erasmus in Madrid, Spain, but since fall 2009 I'm back in Germany. I finished my studies in 2011 and celebrated this with two trips to Japan, one for a language course and the second one for a film project (www.radioactivists.org). I then worked as a studio manager for a Japanese artist, now I'm working project wise mostly either as a production coordinator for film productions or for film festivals (International Film Festival Berlin, Nippon Connection Frankfurt).

PHILOSOPHY

I love to meet knew people because that's the only way to learn more about life!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've studied intercultural communication, so couch surfing seems like a a perfect way to practice my knowledge.
the truth is it hasn't anything to do with my studies, but still, i think it's about intercultural exchange that can result in friendships. so, i participate in an egoistic way, doing what i like doing in general: get to know people from all around the world, listening to their stories and comparing experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I started to get in touch with this project in summer 2008 as a second row-couchsurfer when my ex boyfriend hosted several companies (I'm the "lovely girlfriend" mentioned in the references of Joako Suarez-Saro ;) ).
We've surfed a lot couches on our Euro trip in summer 2009 (at this point a big THANK YOU to our hosts and the other couchsurfers we met) and this way, met some interesting people (with some of them we're still in touch) and had some wonderful experiences.
During the last 2-3 years I spent a lot of time out of town - either traveling far away places or within Germany to visit friends or with jobs. So a lot of times I can't host because I am not in town. But when I'm in Berlin, I do host a lot and if it's not through couch surfing I host international friends who are in the city. One of my last couch surfing experiences was with Rox from Argentina who I subsequently visited in Buenos Aires a month later. So I guess, even if I don't host very often, I still take it very seriously.

Music, Movies, and Books

A lot of movies! Since I studied Media and Communication and wrote my Magister thesis about film (old Spanish film in this case), I can get myself interested in pretty much every movie and find an interesting aspect in it...
I like documentary/fiction cross overs and interesting ways of using the film language grammar, genre referencing, meta-realistic and cross-context references.
I like different kinds of music (I know this answer is very lame, but I really don't know how to describe it better and putting labels doesn't make it any better). I like rhythm-laden, experimental, smart lyrics.
I read books. Again I find it hard to narrow it down. Fictional authors I generally like: Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman; Latest book I've read and loved: Viv Albertine's biography 'Clothes, Clothes, Clothes, Music, Music, Music, Boys, Boys, Boys'; always when I have the feeling I don't understand something I order a non-fictional book about a topic just to find out that you rather finish the book with wanting to order more books on related topics than having the feeling to have understood something.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I guess one of the best things was making a documentary with a friend in Japan 2011. We were in Tokyo for the earth quake March 11, left the country shortly afterwards and eventually decided to go back in order to document the beginning anti-nuclear-demontrations that weren't mentioned in global media at the time. We got in touch with amazing people and it was a life changing project. I am still looking for the next big life changing project of that scale.

Teach, Learn, Share

Oh, i like it all: teaching, learning and sharing. but the topic depends on the situation and the discussion's participants. In theory, i can teach and learn and share about everything...

What I Can Share with Hosts

A laugh!
