About Me
ABOUT ME
I'm passionate about vegan food, sustainability, films, craft beer & brewing, culture in general...!
I studied communications & psychology in Munich, Germany and exchanged in Singapore 2014, where I met several wonderful CS-people. Now I'm working full time doing a journalistic traning in a TV production company, where I work for different science TV shows. And after work I'm usually quite active/busy with other projects like writing for my vegan food blog (which includes a lot of cooking and baking obviously ;) ), preparing my next beer brew day, organising small cultural events... I love creating things and spending time with interesting people! Traveling is a big part of my life (edit 2017: well now I'm working full time with only few days off, but I try to travel as often as possible) - that's why I'm on couchsurfing, because it combines what I love about traveling!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love the idea of getting to know the country AND the people and their local cultures - not just the things you read about in your travel guide!
Interests
I'm totally in love with (vegan) food! When I'm in another city/country I love to explore the culinary landscape, local (craft) breweries (as I'm brewing my own beer as well), sustainable/eco/indie/environmental/cultural projects... I like to make a lot of things myself... of course food related stuff but also cosmetics, urban gardening... and I'm always up for new things :) I can be very happy about little things... and one day I'd like to open my own vegan café, restaurant, bar or something like that ;)

Music, Movies, and Books
I love going to small cinemas and watch indie movies. Furthermore I've been contributing to short films and even directed one myself over the past few years. But in general I'm quite open minded and I like a lot of different movies - both fictional and documentaries - some examples: The East | Grand Hotel Budapest | Chungking Express | Oh Boy | Boyhood | 3 Zimmer/Küche/Bad | Bar25 | Berlin Calling | VICTORIA | The Forecaster | Incendies | Blue is the Warmest Colour | Stranger than Fiction | The Art of Getting By | More than Honey ...
Some books I have been enjoying recently: 11 Minutes (Paulo Coelho), The Happiness Project (Gretchen Rubin), The Girl who saved the King of Sweden & The 100-year old who climbed out of the Window and Disappeared (Jonas Jonasson) - I really like reading but tend to feel like not having enough time for it in normal life times, when I'm not traveling...
I enjoy a lot of different kinds of music: I like to go out to electro/electro-swing/tech-house/deep music but I also love listening to good bands, indie & alternative songwriters... I'm very open minded as long as it's not "the party disco hit of the year" - I think you know what I mean ;)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Brewing my own beer!!! :D But if you don't think that's amazing, I can tell you some more.
I volunteered on a simple "happiness-dedicated" farm in the middle of nowhere in the Philippines - unfortunately it was only a week, but spending time with the local people, living a very simple lifestyle and all the nature around was so wonderful and inspiring.
Another thing I did in the Philippines: seeing the "True Manila" - which is the slums - with an ex-slum kid. If you ever go there: search for Edwin's True Manila Tours! It was a tough but very valuable experience!
Going vegan and accordingly trying to limit my harm to all our earthly co-creatures and earth itself was a changing point in my life. But don't worry, I won't try to convince you or anything if you don't want - but if you have questions, ask ;)
Teach, Learn, Share
I can TEACH you how to cook and bake delicious things from plants! There's no limitation to vegan cooking, I can teach you anything from how to bake a vegan cream pie, cookies, lasagna or how to cook easy but yummy healthy meals. I even took two Thai Food classes in Bangkok, so I can also show you how to make spicy curries, mango sticky rice... I'm happy to share my passion with you! You can have a look on my recipes and pictures on www.paradiesfutter.de or search for paradiesfutter on Instagram!
And of course I'm keen on LEARNING about your favorite / local cuisines! Even if it's containing meat/eggs/dairy etc. I might find a way to cook it in a vegan way equally delicious :)
If you're doing Yoga, I'd love to learn about that! At the moment I'm trying to incorporate it into my daily life, figure out which style & philosophy is the right one for me and learn mediation.
SHARE: memories of my travels around different parts of Asia, go to a concert or a movie, we can talk about anything... :) oh and if I have chocolate, I'll share it with you!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'd say I'm a fuss-free couchsurfer ;) I will adapt to your schedule. I enjoy being and exploring places on my own, so don't worry if you don't have a lot of time to show me around. But if you have some time, of course I'd love to know your favourite places, wander around with you, drink a beer or some wine... As I love cooking there's not much I love more, than making a dinner for you! ;)
