ABOUT ME
Undisputedly Clydebuilt but with a roving heart and feet I hope will never tire of travels. Lived out of a backpack for a significant chunk of my adult life, collecting friends and memories from around the globe and had the honour of being hosted by some fabulous couchsurfers. I currently live and work in Rome but as I live in staff accommodation, I'm unable to host travelers. I'm always keen to meet some new and inspiring people though. I love adventures and hidden alleyways, urban explorations and roughing it in the country and welcome anyone who appreciates the same.
PHILOSOPHY
Lets push things forward.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've surfed a lot on my travels and attended a wide spectrum of events. I hosted a bunch of stragglers and strays when I lived in Chiang Mai.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Mostly stellar, one a bit odd but that's all part of the adventure. Who hasn't got that one strange tale?
Interests
Books. Cooking. Slam poetry. Trying new things. Tasting new food. Long walks in the sunshine. Impromptu road trips. Urban exploration. Old abandoned buildings. Nipping around the city on my scooter. Poring over maps and planning adventures. Learning new card games. I love all kinds of sport and I'll play you at anything. Camping. Beautiful swimming holes. Anything to do with the ocean. Waterfalls. Hiking for hours for that spectacular view. Finding that perfect spot with views of the city skyline. Cobbled alleyways and staircases leading to who knows where. I prefer mountains to the beach, especially if they are covered in snow and I have a board strapped to my feet. I don't think there will ever be a day when I get bored of scrambling over rocks or climbing trees or jumping into water. But I'm equally happy in a nice pub with a cold pint and a game of pool and some interesting conversation.

Music, Movies, and Books
Gulp. Here goes....
Music: hunners - favourite bands/artists include The Smiths, David Bowie, TV on the Radio, MIA, Flaming Lips, Postal Service, motown and any bouncin' beats that get me on my dancin' feet. I'm not a music snob. I love Girls Aloud.
Books: Anything and everything that draws my discerning eye. I love a lot of American writers like Hemingway, Cormac McCarthy, Jon Fante, HL Mencken, Carson McCullers, and modern history books. But my favourite book of all time is the dictionary. I work in a library.... and I am a book snob.
Movies: Best film I ever saw was a Russian film called The Return. But I'll watch pretty much anything, as long as it makes me laugh or cry or think or smile or scowl or yell or fume. Anything rather than indifference.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A few. I have a scar on my chin where I had to get stitches by the roadside after falling off my bike going downhill far too fast through the rainforests of Panama. I got up and cycled to Nicaragua. Also teaching English to 250 beautiful beaming Thai children is pretty spectacular.
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to try every kind of food in the world, swim in the rain, play outside during a thunderstorm, learn a new card game, know how to swear in multiple languages and one day win a game of chess. If you can make any of these things possible I will never forget you. In return I can explain the geography of the United Kingdom as nobody seems to get it. Or teach you how to juggle. Or insult someone in broad Scots. Whichever you prefer. I am genuinely fascinated by the English language and love to use big words - if you want to improve your English, have questions about vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar etc then I'm your girl. I'll explain 'til I'm blue in the face.
