Overview
About Me
Hello! I'm Claryce, a 29-year old student based in Berlin, Germany. I'm new to couchsurfing and I'm looking forward to meeting new people and sharing smiles and ideas!
PHILOSOPHY
"Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage." - Anaïs Nin
"Isn't it funny how day by day, nothing changes, but when we look back, everything is different?" - C. S. Lewis
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like to meet new people while travelling, and to share stories and be inspired by their stories!
Interests
I like reading the news, as well as books on ideas, history, philosophy and people. I find languages fascinating as they give clues on how people view the world. For example, in languages like German, Spanish and Hindi, objects and nouns have genders, but in Chinese, very few objects or nouns do. Do you think this impacts the way people see reality?
I enjoy walking to see new landscapes and environments. I enjoy the sound of silence, but also the sounds of various types of music. I recently started on meditation, and what's playing on my playlist is a lot of deep house, and also Nepalese folk and rock music. I like the sounds and smells of nature, and I enjoy observing animal behaviour. Lastly, I come from a country of people who live to eat (one of my best friends willingly stands in line for 2 hours and makes restaurant reservations 6 months in advance for food), and one of my favourite things is spending time enjoying good food with great company!

Music, Movies, and Books
A movie I recently enjoyed was Captain Fantastic, a movie about a man and his family, and their effort to build a utopian community of philosopher kings. Can this fit into our materialistic society today, or is this just fantasy?
A book I'm reading at the moment is the Tibetan Book on Living and Dying by Sogyal Rinpoche. It shares the world view of Tibetan Buddhism, and also universal values and truths about how and why we live.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Full of fear, I left a job I loved in Singapore and became a student again. Since then, I have studied, worked and made friends with many amazing people in Germany, Argentina, India and Indonesia, which has opened my eyes and mind, and taught me so much about trust, humility, friendship, love and courage.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to share more about Southeast Asia, Singapore, as well as the Chinese and German languages and cultures. I'll be super glad if you would share more about your culture, language, and views on the world!
