Sobre mí

Hey people!
My name's Claudia and I' a 22-almost-23 years old girl who also goes under the names of Cla, Clau, Cloddy or prociona (Italian word for raccoon). Indeed, my friends have a thing for nicknames.
Anyway, I was born and raised up in Verona, where I built up my nest in my teenage years; I attended the high school of Liberal Arts there and grown a real passion for ancient Latin and Greek, but then took a radical twist and decided to dedicate myself to politics instead.
As a matter of fact, I moved to Gorizia, one of the most out-of-the-way and forgotten places in Italy, even if actually loads of Italian soldiers died in the WWI to defend it and maintain it as an Italian territory from the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Nowadays, the city is located right on the border between Italy and Slovenia and you can sense the burden of history in every brick of every street. In such fascinating city I attended university and graduated in International and Diplomatic Sciences, while learning a lot about regional wines and discovering how much joy you can gain from burek (a typical Balkanic food that I could buy just after crossing the border to Slovenia and that you should definitely check out).
Even if I loved my time in Gorizia, I escaped for a little while from there and chose the furthest place for my getaway: I actually chose Finland (specifically, the city of Rovaniemi) as my Erasmus destination and got to live on the Arctic Circle for nearly six months, and with my favourite person in the world nonetheless, who is also a university pal of mine and my best friend (I can see Alexis' eyes rolling while reading this). Guess what, I had the best time of my life up there and can't wait to tell you everything you want to know about it!
I am now enrolled in a Master's programme in European Public Affairs in Maastricht, Netherlands, and having some food for though daily thrown at me: make no mistake, I am a real European politics aficionado. I am currently based in Brussels, Belgium and planning to stay.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I always crave to get the non-touristic, authentic experience from everywhere and everyone and you cannot simply have that from staying in a hotel when you travel around.
I look forward to follow locals in the discovery of their own place, as well as lead new people around my favourite spots in town: Couchsurfing is both a fun and useful way to get around, so why not to join the club?

Música, películas y libros

I am being very lucky in getting to see my favourite singers and bands live around Europe: first check on my list was Adele's concert in Verona, my hometown. I then kept it up with the Kings of Lion in Milan, and eventually got even luckier and went to see Bon Iver in Paris for my 22nd birthday. I danced on stage with Sofi Tukker in Ghent, Belgium and things will get even wilder when I'll see them again in Manchester, UK in the next months.

As you can understand from these listings, my musical taste does not really follow a pattern; and I am especially open to any suggestion or recommendation!

Algo increíble que he hecho

Looks like I like living on borders, because it's where you can get the most out of situations. I am talking about my experience in Gorizia, Rovaniemi, and Maastricht but about my attitude in life as well: I think you cannot get the bigger picture if you have not stepped on both sides of the border first, and tried to reach beyond your own limits. Once you do it, it's amazing.

This approach has brought me to experience two of the most fascinating things so far: first, a safari through the African savannah crawling with life and colours down in Tanzania; second, a road trip from Rovaniemi to Lofoten Islands, Norway, which was a real journey through the Arctic beauty and its astonishing silence.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

If possible, I bring with me a bottle of wine every time I visit so that I can share a nice meal with my host. Also, despite having lived in the North of Italy, I have a Southern heritage, so if you like fish I will be thrilled to cook some sea dish for you.
In any way, even if I won't be cooking, I will be willing to share any food experience with you guys, alongside a good glass of wine/beer/drink whatsoever. Honestly, I am pretty excited about every alcoholic entertainment.
Seriously talking, I really have no special demand so I'll just be adjusting to my host's need: I feel fine both being on my own for the whole time and sharing authentic moments with new people.
