About Me

After some troubled times I am back in my favourite city Dresden and will stay for a while just right where I am! During the last years I was studying and travelling in Ireland, writing my diploma in civil engineering and cycling New Zealand for two months, which all were valuable and exciting experiences! Now I'll have to work and make some money for more adventures.. so come and visit me, so I can have the wide world at home!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because it's all about international (or national) exchange, communication, friendship and fun! And what could be wrong with that :)

Interests

I like:
.. my family and friends! Spending time with people I love is the best way to get happy for me.
.. Irish Dancing, which is like Riverdance, but without the fancy bling-bling for me :). As I have a group of lovely people doing that with me, I enjoy it even more.
.. cycling, at least to work and once for 2 months without preparation over all the hills of the hilliest place I've ever been to. Sometimes you just have to do it to know that you can. :)
.. music, listening as well as trying to get piano or guitar to make some nice noises.. just little success, but better than nothing!
.. photography. I'm neither a pro nor do I try to be one, I just like taking pictures of moments I want to remember. :)
.. knitting and sewing socks and other stuff for me and friends. I always have a small contingent of handknitted socks, because you ALWAYS can use a last-minute gift that doesn't suck!

Music, Movies, and Books

Garden State, Amelie, Soul Kitchen and Barefoot are some of my favourite movies, I like the New Jersey Trilogy (in 6 movies) and the fairytale Fantaghiro, but there are so many good movies I have and have not seen yet, that it is difficult to name the best. The Life of Brian is definitely in the top three though!

At the moment I like to listen to Irish folk, folk rock and singer-songwriter music, indie, some electro pop and musical soundtracks.. and I have a thing for Smetana's "Moldau".

I liked reading novels and short stories by Patricia Highsmith, the Harry Potter Series and Artemis Fowl (yes, I enjoy fantasy stories), some classics and some no names, whatever I find pleasant to read. Walter Moers and his Zamonien-novels should be mentioned also!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw the Westfjords of Iceland, sat in hot springs while freezing temperatures and experienced the great jokes of icelanding people regarding their speed limit.
I stood on the edges of the Cliffs of Moher (IE) and Latrabjarg (IS).
I experienced the Funky Seomra in Cork and Galway - highly recommendable.
I sat in the pool near Wai-O-Tapu, where a hot and a cold river meet.
I (was) jumped out of a plane over Lake Wanaka, which I never thought I'd dare to do.
I cycled New Zealand from Coromandel to Bluff, even though everybody told me I was not fit enough to do so. There you go.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can show you how to knit, make pizza dough and dance an Irish ceili - and I'm happy to find someone who can teach me how to improve my guitar skills (won't be difficult, I suck), show me a new band or singer and share any other talent or skill.
