About Me
Hello hello! I'm glad that you are curious enough about me that you scrolled all the way down to the storytelling part of my profile. I've been rolling through life by taking the amazing opportunities that life is offering me. So far it has worked out very well, so I guess I'll just keep going :)
I am currently making my way through a masters degree in Urban Design in New York City, a wonderful yet crazy place. Once I finish my degree and move into a place that has a little more space again I intend to host people again. For now I had to put traveling on a side track, unfortunately.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I started using couch surfing this summer when I was hitchhiking around the US and Canada and I had an amazing time. People were so kind and awesome and welcoming and now I am ready to give back to the community and start hosting people myself.
Interests
I really enjoy travelling in all forms;
I love walking around cities to get a good sense of how big (or small) they are; I always make my way around Amsterdam and the Netherlands on my bike, taking my camera with me to take pictures of street life and nature; driving cars makes me really excited and not having a car of my own has turned it into a real treat to push that pedal to the metal.
Some other things that I like are bees, beekeeping, and anything bee-affiliated, urban planning, looking at maps, wandering around bookstores, and counting the freckles on my face after a sunny day.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Watching the sunrise at the Victoria Falls!
Climbing a sandstone waterfall in Belize.
Snowshoeing up mountains and camping in the snow.
Hugging baby goats in my hometown.
Hitchhike my way around the US for two months.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you some good ol' Dutch or share my love for bees with you by spamming you with interesting bee facts. Did you know that honeybees can keep the temperature of their hive at 35 degrees Celsius even when it's -20 outside?
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can tell you everything about the effects of climate change on Belize, the Netherlands, and the rest of the world, make you awesome Dutch (or edible) food, show you how to apply sunscreen like a redhead, teach you the basics of beekeeping, explain why lichens are the coolest symbiotic organisms in the world, and last but not least, I can share my terrible and very dry sense of humour with you.
*** Of course I am willing to host all sorts of people, but if you're planning on partying and smoking your way through your stay in Amsterdam I probably won't be the right host for you. I really like to share experiences and stories with other couch surfers, so if you're only looking for a place to crash there are plenty of awesome hostels in the city centre with tons of cool people!
Also, because of the number of requests that I've been getting lately I have decided to ask new surfers to give me a reason why they want to stay with me in particular. It can be anything from wanting to learn how to ride a bike to wanting to see my red hair from up close. I just want to make sure that the people that want to stay with me have taken the time to go through my profile completely. Something about mutual interests and time investment. ***
