About Me

It's actually an 'us'. I'm Claudine and my boyfriend is Mike. We weren't sure whether to create our own profiles but we're starting here, with one. Hope that's OK.

Mike and I are mid-thirties, no kids, no pets. We love travelling but we also love London, one of the best cities in the world. At home we work in charity sector and as an engineer, but what is love is spending our free time walking around the city, listening to live music, eating and spending time with friends and family. Our flat is in Brixton in South London which is a really buzzy neighbourhood with an amazing market and people like Maureen, who sell Jerk chicken from her back garden.

Mike is a passionate photographer (www.michaelcharlessheridan.com for travel and charity photos) and loves sport. One thing we love doing is seeing local sports in random places. We've been to football in Myanmar, ice hockey in Russia and recently cricket in Pakistan. We love it because it's real local life.

I love walking around cities and being outdoors, I like wild swimming spots and stopping at random little places that nobody has heard of to discover local life.

We both read and love music. We'll always try find some traditional music or a live concert if there is. This is why we hope to visit Southern States of America next year.

We're both pretty relaxed and we're very independent. So, if you're at work all day or cant hangout, that's totally fine with us - we understand how busy life is. We also would love to have dinner with you or a coffee one morning too if you have time but no pressure from our side!

We are fine with pets and kids. We'd prefer our own room is possible - but will search for this our side. We're very respectful and easy going so just tell us what you need or any expectations up front and we'll be really honest back. Eg. if you'd like us to stay but you need us to feed your cat, let us know! Or if you're not working and would like to spend quality time and sightsee with us, just say. Most of all, we'd love to just have a fun time and explore where you live.

We also do a lot of things separately and so Mike might go off for a day or do his own thing or I will one day. We're not a couple that do everything together and are quite comfortable in our own company. As I type, Mike's gone on a run and I'm just relaxing in our room.

Honesty and openess is best for great stays all round. We'll obviously read your profile closely but do let us know if you have any questions.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We're currently travelling for nine months and we've heard so many amazing things about Couchsurfing, we'd love to give it a try. Between now and June, we're planning to travel to Taiwan and hopefully America. We love meeting locals, you know your home the best and love hearing stories and just experiencing a place through your eyes.

We also would love to host once we're back home in the summer. We had so many people say they love London but it's prohibitively expensive. We love our home city and we know our way around from food, to music to great walks and we want London to be accessible for everyone.

If you're Deaf, deaf or have any other disability, we'd love to have you providing our home is appropriate for you and you feel comfortable.

Music, Movies, and Books

Clauds:
Love reggae, jazz and blues, world music. I saw an amazing film in Pakistan called Joyland - you should see it! Books, ah there are so many. A Fine Balance, Where the Crawdads Sing and The Hare with the Amber Eyes all moved me greatly.

Mike:
Love Foals, Wolf Alice, Future Islands, Harry Styles (of course!). Favourite book is Night Circus. Favourite film is Old Boy a Korean classic.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Clauds:
Quit my job twice to go travelling. That's technically two things but still amazing ones.

Mike:
Mike once got 670 at bit bat.

Teach, Learn, Share

Things to do with photography. Things to do with charity sector. This is a difficult one mainly because we're always learning. We'd love to learn about anything you're comfortable sharing and enjoy talking about. We come with no expectations!

Sure there are other things that will come up and hopefully we can share good conversation and coffee and wine.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm Jewish and if we stay with you on a Friday night, I can of course share some of my traditions with you. My mum is the best Jewish mum in town and my nana is the greatest if you ever come to London.

We'd be happy to share anything you find interesting including our travels to some off beat places (Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan).
