About Me
I'm a university student studying Electrical Engineering and I love traveling. Ever since I was a little kid, my mom has been telling me the stories of her time working as a student teacher in England, and taking the train all over Europe through Amsterdam and Grindelwald and Vienna. She and my dad really value travel and they've taken me all over, from Costa Rica to Hawaii to New York. Now I'm about to start my own adventure and I can't wait to see what it's all about! Ever since I started planning my study abroad program in Prague over a year ago, I've been thinking about it every day. I can't wait to meet all these new people and places!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm a nineteen year old kid going on his first backpacking trip to Europe, so allow me to be a little cliche here :) Of course staying in hostels and meeting other travelers sounds fun, but I'm most interested in learning about the culture of the places I visit. Tell me about yourself, tell me about what it's like to live where you do! I've always had these moments of wonder where I think "Wow! there are some people who actually get to grow up in Paris/New York/London/etc., and life for them is probably just as normal as it is for me". Now, no matter where you grew up I want to hear about your life, and what it's like to live anywhere you've lived.
Music, Movies, and Books
MUSIC
I love EVERYTHING (especially jazz, hip-hop, and psych rock), and if you're reading this I want to hear what YOU listen to as well! It's hard to be concise, but a few favorites are:
The Who
Pink Floyd
Madvillain
The Beatles
Kendrick Lamar
U2
Kanye West
Miles Davis
John Coltrane
alt-J
Tycho
Bonobo
Movies: I'm pretty uncultured when it comes to movies but my girlfriend has been getting me into Quentin Tarantino (I know, it's cliche, but WHATEVER his movies are really good)
Books: My absolute favorite author is John Steinbeck, and the books that are most special to me are the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A spontaneous trip to Death Valley with some friends to see the wildflowers bloom. The first night we found a place near Bishop to camp when it was completely dark and woke up to the most beautiful mountains I've ever seen. The second night we slept under sand dunes and caught the sunrise from the top of them the next morning.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can talk for hours about music, and I would love to spend some time trading music suggestions with you if we meet! If you're a musician yourself and have an extra instrument or something I'm always ready to jam :)
I'm an engineering student so on the off-chance you, a friend, or a child needs some tutoring in math or physics I'm glad to provide that as well!
Most of all, I'd love to learn about what makes you YOU. I want to hear your stories and I can tell you some of mine if you'd like.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can help with chores, share stories, help cook, hang out with you, leave you completely alone, whatever! I just want to make sure that having me as a guest leaves you happier than when I arrived. You will also always have a place to stay if you ever happen to pass through Reno/wherever else I may end up living.
