ABOUT ME

I'm a student at Aalto University in Helsinki/Espoo doing my M.Sc in "Machine Learning and Data Mining". I love music and design and play drums for quite some years now. I'm an easy to get along with, open-minded and thoughtful fellow, guess the rest you'll have to find out for yourself ;)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been surfing couches before I discovered this website/community. I had my first experience when I travelled Australia with a work and travel visa. I stayed at an apartment in Melbourne with a retired school headmaster and it was one of the most influencing experiences I had in my life. He took care of the apartment of a friend that I had met in Darwin, and who (knowing me for only two days) invited me to stay at his apartment when he learned that I wanted to go to Melbourne. I had such a great time there and I saw things I would have never discovered traveling alone. I was simply overwhelmed by my hosts' incredible hospitality and kindliness.
After that most of my stays where with people I knew somehow and visited in different cities. I went to Quebec and New York City with a friend where we stayed at a friends flat for a week. She used to be an exchange student in my schooldays and it was such a great week with her and her roommate! From there me and my friend organized our first stay with couchsurfing.org in New York City. We were quite exited because we had no idea who we would meet there but I turned out to be a legendary week! Our host Luigi had to work but still took the time to show us lots of things and dive into the New York nightlife with us - "it ain't bar hopping until we didn't get a drink at at least five bars guys!" :D That's when I decided to join couchsurfing.org as well and I'm really looking forward to my next couchsurfing experiences.

Interests

I'm passionate about music and everything that goes with it. I've been playing drums since I was a little child and also played in bands since quite a long time. I'm always looking for new music and I especially love to go to small concerts for their pleasant ambiance.
Besides I'm interested in photography and design, particularly in web and interface design. Besides I'm engaged in studies on artificial intelligence and machine learning at the university at the moment.
