About Me
CURRENT MISSION
My mission is to meet a diverse range of wonderful like-minded people and help as much a possible like others have done for me.
ABOUT ME
I love to celebrate anything and everything by dancing and drinking with new and old friends, but I really love a good nights rest too. Lately I've been more into watching a good documentary and sharing a bottle of wine with a new friend. I enjoy living in a bit of a fantasy world (you'll find me humming the theme songs to Disney movies or Indiana Jones during the day, and reading Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter at night). I enjoy a bit of poetry and authors like Sylvia Plath, George Orwell and Oscar Wilde. I try not to take life too seriously. I ask a lot of questions, but I'm not always expecting intelligible answers.
I generally like animals more than most things in life, particularly cats. I miss being around animals a lot so if you have pets I'd be delighted.
My recent aim is to learn to play acoustic guitar and get over my fear of singing in public and perform in front of people( but I havenât quite got the hang of the guitar...yet).
I have very eclectic music tastes- from Rage Against the Machine, to Alanis Morissette, to the Cranberries, to the Corrs to Seal, to the Beatles- you get the idea.
I love to walk but youâll never see me jog/run (shudder). I love nature and spend most of my free days walking around outside taking photos, usually not aiming to go anywhere in particular. My favourite holidays usually involve camping and hill climbing.
Iâm a photographer by trade and have always got a camera with me. Portraits are my passion. Iâm just getting back into film photography. I have an obsession with street art and abandoned buildings.
Iâm an ex-vegetarian kind-of hippie who feels at home around carpet picnics, musky incense and experimental food creations. I am one of those who has ideas about changing the world for the better, but tends to sit and read about how others have done that in the past, rather than do it myself (but Iâd like to change that).
I left Australia in May 2010 to discover the world away from my island home, travelled briefly in England, Paris, Rome, Venice, Vienna, Prague, Krakov, Berlin (LOVED Berlin), Amsterdam, and lived in Edinburgh from September 2010 for on-and-off a year and a half, which I know consider my second home.
I travelled around Ireland for 3 months thanks for the wonders of CS, and since then have been to Barcelona, Figueres, Malaga, Seville, Cadiz, and Tarifa in Spain and Tangier and Chefchaouen in Morocco, returned to Germany for Berlin, Dresden, Munich, Frankfurt and Trier, went to Belguim for Dinant, Chimay, Ghent, Brugge and Antwerpen, then returned to Amsterdam.
Back in Australia now but living with my parents for the time being- but as soon as I find a good place in Melbourne I'll be hosting!
PHILOSOPHY
What goes around comes around.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I became very broke when I was in Berlin, bout to head to Amsterdam. A girl who I had met for 30 minutes offered me her place to stay for a whole week, rent free, to house sit for her while she away on a trip. She gave me her address and left the keys under the door. Her generosity saved me, and I have no idea what I would have done without her taking a chance on someone she just met. I had an amazing time living in her lovely apartment, and feel all warm and fuzzy remembering how grateful I was for her kindness. It changed my way of thinking completely and I promised myself to return the favour to someone as needy as I was. This is my chance.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I remember in Berlin I saw one friend throw a hat like a frisbee to another friend across a park and it actually landed on his head perfectly. It was a complete fluke and everyone including the 2 hat people stood silent and in shock for a couple of minutes. I love when things like that happen. Ok it's not THE most amazing thing but it was still wonderful!
Oh, and the incredible speech that Charlie Chaplin makes in 'The Great Dictator', "The way of life can be free and beautiful. But we have lost the way..." etc. That gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Please if you have no seen it have a look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcvjoWOwnn4
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach others to let loose when dancing, to see little aspects of their surrounds that they might have easily walked past otherwise, to give anything a chance and drinking with strangers is a lot of fun :) I would like others to encourage and embrace my idiosyncrasies, and to do the same with themselves. As I am a portrait photographer, I'd be happy to take a nice portrait of whoever is kind enough to host me :) I also love massage (giving and receiving) and would love to learn deep tissue massage professionally one day.
