Overview
About Me
{volunteer} National Campaign Director, The Climate Emergency Coalition. Cliff also chairs the Environment & Climate Justice Committee of the TN Chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility and the Environmental Justice Committee of the Tennessee Chapter of the Sierra Club. He also volunteers with the Xavier Green School Movement and teaching at Merritt College and the Mayan Environmental Education & Research Center in the Central Yucatan. He has served in consultative and guest researcher roles with a number of organizations including NASA, the National Institutes of Health, and the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. He has developed student programs for environmental action and volunteered on the organizing team that drew 40,000 college students to NYC for the People's Climate March in September 2014. For Cliff, protecting the most vulnerable people of the planet from the "globalization of indifference" is a moral imperative that ultimately drives his dedication to climate mobilization.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My passion is to reach out to people and build an international movement to mitigate climate change... while we still can. I also enjoy experiencing other cultures and peoples since I think of myself as more a citizen of the planet rather than any single nation.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Back in the 1990's I co-chaired the higher education committee of the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Holiday Commission, working under Commission Chair Coretta Scott-King to brand the federal holiday as a national day of community service. To this day, the King Holiday remains a "day on target" instead of a day off to go shopping. :)
