About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To experience the ups and downs of life, find challenge and adventure.

ABOUT ME

I am a climbing guide and adventurer who dabbles occasionally in teaching literature. I am looking to travel as much as possible to improve and deepen the breadth of my experience about the world and about humanity. I am open minded to all things.

PHILOSOPHY

I would have to attempt to quote Thoreau I suppose. "No man ever followed his genius till it mislead him.... If the day and the night are such that you greet them with joy, and life emits a fragrance like flowers and sweet-scented herbs, is more elastic, more starry, more immortal- that is your success, all nations is your congratulation, and you have cause momentarily to bless yourself".

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am somewhat itinerant, so I can't host much, but I am looking to help build the couchsurfing project by bringing my ideas to others around the world and being a positive and thoughtful recipient of the ideas of others.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed in India mostly while on a trip from Nepal to Tamil NAdu, and I enjoyed all of the people I met along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite movie is a cheezy classic about quitting your 9 to 5 job-- Joe versus the Volcano.

I also like documentary films.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rode my bicycle across the United States, Helped with disaster relief in New Orleans, Climbed all over the world, taught English in an under-priveleged California public school, started an outdoor school in the US, Started a rock band, stuffed 9 marshmallows in my mouth once.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have an extensive knowledge of books. I'm a Himalayan climbing Guide, so I know a lot about geology and natural history as well as the technical skills necessary to explore the mountains. I'm interested in anyone who can help me to learn about the cultures in which I have immersed myself.
