About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To meet and greet as many people from my new community and elsewhere as possible.
ABOUT ME
In recent years I have been referred to as a rangeland ecosystem scientist, rangeland technician, conservation technician, economist, outfitter/stock packer, hunting guide, climbing instructor, skier, rock climber, mountain biker, marathoner, adventure traveler and most recently as a married man (a.k.a. "one lucky dude"). Each of these activities has provided me the opportunity to set ambitious goals and layout challenging paths towards achieving them. Highlights from these pursuits include: 1) a multiday ascent of shear 3,000 ft rock face of El Capitan, in Yosemite National Park. 2) Securing a graduate fellowship and funding to develop a weed management plan for downy brome, one of the most ubiquitous invaders of western rangelands in the United States. 3)Creating additional opportunities for hands on interactive learning as a teaching assistant in an ecology and management of weeds class at Colorado State University. 4) Treating over a 1,000 acres of weeds as field crew leader, more than had previously been treated in a single growing season on the Blanco District of the White River National Forest and Flatops Wilderness Area.
PHILOSOPHY
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”
― Hunter S. Thompson
