About Me

Hi. My name is Igor. I grew up in Belarus, graduated with master degree in math and computer science, moved to California and currently employed by Fitbit. Yeah, that's right, the company behind pedometers that count your steps, stairs, calories, tracks your sleep and much more.

I have many hobbies and I am pretty good at all of them. I play soccer, volleyball, I can beat you at chess, tennis, ping pong. I squat, deadlift, benchpress. I can do 40 pullups and one arm pullups on each arm.

I am an avid rock climber, I lead climb (5.13) and I boulder (v8). I can run up to 15 miles with no snacks and water.

I read a lot of books, follow even more blogs and have strong opinions about everything.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like learning and discovering new things. In my opinion, the best way to do it while travelling is by forming good relationships with local people, observe and learn what they do and teach them something in return.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like movies about people who are much better than everyone else at what they do
(Bourne, Batman, Shooter, Big Lebowski (he is the laziest person ever), Matrix, Gladiator, Hitman).
My favorite part is the training sequence, where Bruce Wayne, Neo or Kung-Fu Panda goes to a remote location to train very hard, past all breaking points, until they emerge as a master and a better version of themselves.

I am a voracious reader and usually read many books at the same time. I like practical books that teach your something useful.

I am not loyal to any musical band or genre. I believe every musician has good and bad songs which is a matter of personal preference. I will listen to anything I like and I don't care who is behind it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hike 50 km (30 miles) in one day in Yosemite National Park, California.

Ask me how.
