About Me

Torn between a desire to have a meaningful career and the natural instinct to drift off to every corner of the globe you can imagine what seems to be winning out... I've been privileged to travel to many random places on minimal budgets stretched by the kindness of others. As a firm believer in humanity and mutual respect I think Couchsurfing is where it's at. Why look from outside in, when you can experience real life with a little help from some CS buddies?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In Indonesia I offered a very comfy couch - which looked strangely like a double bed. I also crashed on a couch in Peru (which was awesome) - also looked strangely more like a bed than a couch.

I've had an 'on again'/'off again' relationship with couchsurfing. Mostly owing to the randomness that's characterised my life over the last few years. Every time I come back I'm reminded why I got on board in the first place.

Interests

Surfing, traveling (duh), music and other stuff.

Music, Movies, and Books

Can't go past Waynes World whilst reading The Weather Makers by Tim Flannery. Oh and 'The end of Oil' and 'Confessions of an Economic Hitman' recently just scared the crap out of me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Not let societal expectations about what I "should" be doing dictate my life. The world is a beautiful place full of amazing people and the traditional career + mortgage thing was never really an option. I could talk about climbing 'this', or visiting 'that' but it's the people you meet that really make life worth living.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a qualified surfing instructor and can teach surfing if people can source a big board to learn on...
