About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Get my degree, and travel the world.
ABOUT ME
I’m an easy going, friendly and open-minded introvert. Most people notice that I’m pretty shy until they get to know me (unless we have some similar obscure interest!). This is something I’m working to overcome… I enjoy a healthy dose of cynicism, sarcasm, dry humor, and other times just silliness. I especially like listening to people with skeptical minds, those who value reason and those who deviate from societal expectations. My main interest is music (of the obscure and bizarre variety). Related to that I’m a radio DJ, a poor drummer, and an even worse pianist. I go to school full time pursuing a bachelors in technocultural studies. I’m a graduating senior and I still have no idea what I want to do with my life and my seemingly useless degree. I’d like to go to graduate school, but for what? I just want to figure out who I am and to be happy in life. I would love to travel all over Europe, and in the process make some good friends and see all the fantastic bands that never play here in the U.S. I’m hoping couchsurfers might aid my friend Sabrina and I in making this a reality … and I can look forward to when I have my own place and can repay the kindness.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: avant-garde, progressive, rock in opposition, zeuhl, psychedelic, folk (neo. apocalyptic. industrial. experimental. psych), metal (avant-garde. doom. progressive. black-related...), chamber rock, some industrial, electronic, ambient, classic rock, jazz, world etc. Generally I love music that's strange, and beautiful. Some favorites: Legendary Pink Dots, Current 93, Coil, Iva Bittova, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, John Zorn, Agalloch, Opeth, Ulver, Green Carnation, Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, Van Der Graaf Generator, Gong, Foetus, Marillion, Porcupine Tree, Burning Witch, Reverend Bizarre, Lazuli, Brian Eno, ... [I'm going to Zappanale in Germany and Rock in Opposition festival in France, so if you're going contact me and maybe we can meet up so I'm not so lonely as I enjoy beautiful music!]
Film: Elling, Heima, Life is Beautiful, This Film is Not Yet Rated, Clerks, Marbles on the Road, 28 Days Later, Eraserhead. I love comedy, drama, documentary, independent, foreign, concert, and ethnographic films.
Books: I should read more than I do. The past couple years I've been too swamped with school readings. I enjoy sci-fi, non-fiction, various fiction, some bio. Been in the process of reading Consilience (Wilson) for a while.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Went to Mexico for the BajaProg festival in 2007, hung out until the wee hours with some of my favorite bands and met the most amazing people. Incredible week.
