About Me

CURRENT MISSION

learn more, and then some more.

ABOUT ME

I've got good chat. I'm interested in the world. I work in the arts, this gives me a healthy interest in the rest of stuff like politics, society, economics. I like laughing. I also like serious chatting. I'm a terrible but enthusiastic dancer. I can get 'on one' if I feel passionately about something. I love the freedom of travelling alone. Mostly my job is what enables me to travel. I can cook, and I love doing it. I enjoy foreign supermarkets. I am open minded and will try most things once. I like clothes that feel comfortable. I wear a lot of colour. I know a lot of people and love them all. I have about 26 best friends. I have a life-long genetic chronic condition which I believe made me a better person, despite it causing a lot of pain and exhaustion. I think it made me more accepting of the world, people and much more considered about where I spend my energy. Its likely I will like you, I try to see the best in people, even if we disagree.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

almost completely amazing; the one or two bad experiences have just made the good ones better.

Interests

music - at the top for a reason
reading - for pleasure, for learning
art - never underestimate it's importance, or it's capacity for being crap
singing - the one thing i would say i can do really well
photographs - people, places, things
swimming - saved my life
yoga - also saved my life
cycling - gets me around fast and cheap
architecture - beautiful cities to eco houses buried in the hills
design - i have a strange attraction to certain typefaces....
dancing - alone or with people, but always badly
smoking - not tobacco but other tasty morsels
film - thinky types and escape-y types
food - usually healthy, mostly containing fish
wine - red 85% of the time, white if it's a really good one
travelling - as much as my purse allows
love - can't live without it
family - all over the place, guaranteed couches with cool people!
friends - here, there and everywhere
kisses - and hugs
chocolate - any and all, except the weird marmite one
walking - anywhere
crisps - salt and vinegar
sunshine - in the cold or the warmth, as long as it's sunny
pink - the really bright shade, not baby pink

Music, Movies, and Books

i read a lot of books about creativity, productivity, motivation, finding your groove....sir ken robinson's "the element" and "making ideas happen" by Scott Belsky who founded Behance are examples of recent faves.

i loved the alchemist by paulo coelho (i don't care if people think it's naff!!!) i'm trying to read tinker tailor soldier spy and also have the master and margherita on the go....down and out in paris and london by george orwell, the old man and the sea by ernest hemingway, ham on rye by charles bukowski, dreams from bunker hill by john fante, jane eyre by charlotte bronte, and a few books by nick hornby, iain banks, robert rankin and chuck palahniuk.

i have to be honest and admit my guilty addiction to crime fiction.

i watch a lot of films, some of my favourites are all about eve, un air du famille, la vida e bella, the royal tenenbaums, dirty dancing (my guilty pleasure!) and apocolypse now. directors, david lynch, michel gondry, jean pierre jeunet, pedro almadover, park chan-wook.
