About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to meet great, warm-hearted travellers! I am also learning French, Italian, German and Japanese and would love to practise.

ABOUT ME

Hello!

I would love to host you. I´m Caitlin, I´m a happy traveller, linguist, on-and-off student and music teacher!

If you´d like to stay and see some non-touristic parts of my city (York, UK), if I can I will help you out.

I´ve been blessed with some beautiful people on Couchsurfing and just other travellers helping me out on my journeys, and understand how amazing a shower, clean bed, hearty meal and a washing machine can be!

*****I will only respond to nice, personal messages as I want to meet nice, interesting people who are interested in getting to know ME as well as my city!! I am also not looking for romantic interest, so please don´t message me unless you´re interested in surfing as a friend! Thanks******

PHILOSOPHY

Never lose childish innocence

Follow your heart and do what you love

Always have peace at home to keep goodness with those closest to you

Be the change you want to see in the world!

She who goes alone can leave today; she who travels with another has to wait until the other is ready.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hosted: Maria Paula - Brasil
Ryan - USA
Veronika - Czech Republic
Ben and Jane - England

I surfed: Loopy - Spain
Juli - Spain

I met with: Felipe - Venezuela
Carlita - Peru
Maria - Peru
Sofia and Chrys - Greece

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted many times in Granada, Spain where I lived for two years...I'm an independent host as well as surfer. I do my own thing for half the day, and then meet up with my CSer for the other half, and it has always worked well! If you have some time to share for a picnic lunch, to see some live music with a traditional English beer (I don´t drink much but you should try the great British variety!), want to meet some of my friends and introduce me to yours or chat about the life and travelling, it would be wonderful!!

*****I am away a lot and get a LOT of requests, so please don´t be offended if I don´t respond to your request.*****

Interests

I love good music (classical, folk, ska, jazz, salsa, flamenco, classic rock, klezmer...), cooking and eating LOTS of delicious food, having a laugh, travelling alone and/or with friends to remote, beautiful places where the world feels big instead of small!! I'm a countryside girl through and through and really want to have a good impact on the world. I recycle, dumpster-dive, and don't support big companies over the common man. I don´t have a TV but instead I play the piano. I think peace in yourself is the way to make a better world. I don't smoke or take drugs, and I'm not interested in couch surfing because of romantic interest, but because of the great idea of travelling as a local! I'm a happy, independent girl and I want to meet intelligent, nice, chilled out and motivated people who have simmilar ideals. I like finding out the secrets of cities and would love to share them with you - you could call me an "Old school Couchsurfer".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Got my degree. Paraglided off the Ecuadorin coast and survived a Wolf Spider experience in the Ecuadorian jungle. Led my first workshop on singing, "Get over your nerves - confidence singing in public!" Held my baby cousins in my arms. Experienced living in Spain for almost 2 years. Have almost got a degree...a few more months!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can cook us some traditional English dishes such as "apple crumble", "stew", "scones", and also some Spanish tapas! Can you show me how to make food from your country? Or teach me some music from your country/play an instrument?

I can give you a singing lesson! Or a piano lesson. We can do a language exchange English - Spanish. Also I would like to practice Japanese, Italian and German. I would like to dance salsa or visit the countryside and get to know your friends, too!

Countries I’ve Visited

Bolivia, Canada, Ecuador, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Morocco, Peru, Thailand

Countries I’ve Lived In
