PHILOSOPHY
"We were uncertain whether the water floated the land, or the land held the water in its bosom." - Thoreau [A Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers]
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I think Couch Surfing is what the world needs right now - a community of people willing to meet / help / and generally be nice to the global population. Its on the same grounds as the idea of the 'wiki' and open source software - and I want to be a part of it
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Well, I signed up for Couch Surfing back in 2007 when I studied abroad in Australia and never ended up doing much with it. I sent out some messages to people back then in Melbourne and Sydney but didn't hear back. Now that I am back in the states, a few of my close friends are seemingly having wonderful experiences with it and I would like to get back on the Couch Surfing boat! So as of 2011 I am back on board!
Interests
I suppose much of this was covered in the 'about me' section, but as for interests, I would say the main ones are...
Veggies, Biking, Beer Brewing, Reading, Writing, Watching good movies and documentaries, Talking, Walking the scenic route, Outdoors.

Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy books that say more than the word themselves present outwardly. Philosophy drawn into fiction is a wonderful thing.
As for films, I am finding myself connecting mostly with documentaries and unconventional narratives, ones that stretch the definition of what film is and can be. I also like the occasional animated movie :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I attempted to go down the Mississippi River in the fall 2010 using a pedal powered boat that I constructed from an old sailboat. Major flooding forced me to get off the river and ended the trip long before it deserved to end.
