About Me
I first joined Couchsurfing about a decade ago, when I was traveling around the Western United States after graduating from college. At that time I was young and unrooted, not sure where I would end up next. Now, 10 years later as I update my profile, I realize how much things have changed. I have since settled in Vermont USA and am married to a wonderful husband named Pete. We both make things for a living (I make pottery and he builds furniture). The nature of flexibility in our work allows us to get away for long stints at a time, something we both enjoyed individually and now we are lucky to enjoy together. Vermont makes a great home base, but we love having adventures every once in a while in a different part of the world. So here we are in New Zealand!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Pete and I have just finished walking the entire length of the country on the Te Araroa trail. It was an amazing experience (we can tell you all about it!). We are now making our way north in order to visit places we didn't get to see along our walking trail. We have until late April before we fly back to the United States, and we are eager to explore some new areas.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Our honeymoon was a 3 part adventure: Walking 900 km in grizzly country across the Canadian Rockies, then sitting on a train for 72 hours all the way to Toronto, and finally spending 6 days on a tandem bicycle riding to our home in Vermont.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Pete and I are responsible, honest people who will have the utmost respect for you and your place. We are very independent travelers and do not ask much of couchsurfing hosts, but we also enjoy spending time with new people and are happy to hang out if that's what's happening!
One tricky thing is that we do not have a phone with us here in New Zealand, so it may take some time for us to get back to you. We are reliant on internet that we can find in libraries or other peoples' devices.
