About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Continuing to feel the fear and choosing to ignore it completely.
ABOUT ME
Hola! I'm Claire, I'm 26 and I live in Edinburgh. I'm currently working in EU policy here, but before that, I spent some time in Brussels, moonlighted as an English teacher in Spain and had some good times travelling in South East Asia!
Random facts about me:
* I will eat pretty much anything (within reason!)
* I get angry when people put apostrophes and commas in the wrong place.
* I can be pretty clumsy, so much so that my old housemates christened me 'the human joke.'
* My wrists and fingers are so small that I have to buy jewellery designed for children.
* I love to sing and my childhood dream of being a pop star is one I've never entirely grown out of.
PHILOSOPHY
It may sound clichéd, but I believe that if you want something badly enough, you'll find a way of achieving it. I also think that setbacks are often opportunities in disguise, because as many a Scots granny has said: 'What's for you won't go by you.' :)
And some philosophy stolen from others:
'An eye for an eye will turn the world blind' - Gandhi
'Everything we learn from this life will be learned from the one who is not like us, from the 'foreigner' or the 'other.' We have nothing to hear from those who look like us, who think and live exactly like us, except the echo of our own voice.' - the wisest words I've ever read in a legal textbook!!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
CouchSurfing has been such an amazing way of meeting people on my travels. I had a great experience surfing with Joanne and Pablo when I arrived in Logroño and met loads of fab people at the city's CS meeting, meaning my fears of spending 8 months sad and alone were completely unfounded!
Interests
Socialising, travelling, singing, learning new languages, reading, listening to music, eating good food in good company, law, politics, dancing (badly), cinema.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like most music, just not a fan of anything too extreme like death metal! I can usually be found listening to chilled out stuff, but I have also been spotted in many a club throwing shapes to dance music, doing bad impressions of Rihanna/Shakira/Beyoncé and getting low to some rap...
Book wise, I'm a fan of Shakespeare, Harper Lee, Natsuo Kirino, Annie Ernaux, Khaled Hosseini, Maya Angelou, Guillaume Vigenault, Sylvia Plath and Albert Camus.
I much prefer foreign films to American ones, Amores Perros and L'Auberge Espagnole are among my favourites :)
