About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To seek out joy and learn to embody joy for others.

ABOUT ME

I've worked with children, with tigers, with Disaster Relief. I believe in good over greed, joy over jaded, and desire over despair. I am jubilant, laid back, energetic, and musically inclined. I like to eat fruits and veggies, I love to cook, and fish is yummy too. (I'm currently famished!) I am an avid reader, and believe in ecology and sustainable agriculture.

PHILOSOPHY

There is too little good to go and squander our brilliance on despair. I'm all for joy and innocence.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I intend to host, and to travel, and spread goodwill. I have an extra bed and an extra room in my house, so surfers can bring a sleeping bag and crash in my yard, in my extra room, in the extra bed, or on my couch. Its all gravy, friends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet, but I made friends in distant lands and then went to visit them, and they let me stay in their homes like family. I loved it, and it was moving and hard to leave them. <3

Interests

I love life, love, nature, eating, reading, singing, writing, running, jumping, swimming, climbing, too many things to name, really! <3

Music, Movies, and Books

The (increasingly ill-named) Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy, A Song of Ice and Fire, Tolkien in general and The Silmarillion in particular. The Last Unicorn, 'Against His-Story, Against Leviathan!', The Demon Haunted World, Derrick Jensen, many many others. I love to read.

Music is too long to list here.. Animal Collective, Azure Ray, Strunz and Farah, Trespassers William, Bonnie "Prince" Billie, Iron and Wine, basically Folk, Blue Grass, Indie, some Motown, some Rock. Queen and Cake, a tiny smattering of Incubus, Foo Fighters, a healthy bunch of And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, some Firewater, some Sunny Day Real Estate, the Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles of course, some Supremes, some Elvis, some Tool, many many others.

I liked the movie Grandma's Boy. I liked The Matrix. I really liked Amelie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have kissed tiger's noses, leapt off of balconies into the snow, danced on frozen lakes, lived most of my life in 100 degree temperatures that I bask in. I have played with dozens of children who had no father, and who loved me, and who I loved too. I have built playgrounds for poor schools where there was only bare earth, I have attempted CPR on and held a loved one as they died, I have forgiven those that hurt me the most. I can lift my little sister over my head with one arm, (I am still amazed by this) and my little brother thinks I'm cool. I have rescued kittens from the jaws of dogs, and rescued dogs from the jaws of loneliness.

Teach, Learn, Share

I respect all life. I am trying to be self-sufficient and start a small collective here of independent eco-friendly human beings.
Music used to be something anyone and everyone could do; nowadays most people scorn the simple but heartfelt songs of our neighbors and friends for the tailored to taste music that is most common. I believe we all have the right and desire to sing, dance, laugh, and make noise, and I think we should learn to do it early, so we never forget how to do it when we're old.
