About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To listen more closely.

ABOUT ME

I live in Eugene, Oregon. The air there smells like spun sugar. The roses are almost embarrassing, they're so beautiful.

I like steel-cut oats and ethnographic museums. When I travel somewhere new, I visit the library. I once took a 1.5 hour detour to see the World’s Largest Ball of Twine. I'm a slow reader. I spent a summer working on a dude ranch in Montana, where I first had elk enchiladas. Until recently I thought the word "facetious" began with "ph."

I'll dance with you as long as you want (three hours? four?). I eat plain baking chocolate, the super bitter stuff. I'm invested in workers' rights, women's rights, and ending American white supremacy.

I'm a writer. I recently graduated with my Masters in Creative Writing, and just finished updating part of a guidebook to Belize. I'm traveling in Europe, mostly Scotland, for two months in fall 2016. I can't wait to be places where the lampposts have clawed feet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchsurfed in Turkey, Austria, Mississippi, Utah, Oregon. Inspiring hospitality greeted me in each place. I've met other folks for coffee and walks. I'm eager to host when I'm settled/stationary.

I love good guests, so I try to be one.

Couchsurfing heartens me. I see this site as what happens when the internet realizes its potential for human connectivity.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In a petrified forest recently, I saw lichen growing on a 200 million-year-old log that had been crystallized into a kaleidoscope. Little is as humbling.
