About Me

Hi there, I'm Coca (pronounced like Coca-Cola). I worked in summer camps and in outdoor education throughout uni, and became a travel guide once I graduated. I've worked on 5 continents leading all kinds of trips. Although I changed careers during the pandemic, travel will always be my favorite thing to do.

I live with Rory, my partner of 6 years, in sunny San Diego, CA (check out his profile here: https://www.couchsurfing.com/users/2004751687?utm_campaign=profile_share&utm_source=couchsurfing-ios).

We are both foodies who love eating out and cooking; we hardly ever make the same recipe twice. If you visit us we’ll take hiking and sightseeing, then finish the day with fish tacos on the beach at sunset. We’re excited to show you around our hometown!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love hostels, but nothing beats being shown around by a local. I've been lucky to make amazing friends all over the world who have opened their homes to me, and now that I'm no longer living out of a backpack, I'm excited to pay the favor forward and share California with you!

Although I’ve never couchsurfed, my partner Rory has had amazing experiences with this community and convinced me to finally give it a try. Can’t wait to meet you!

Interests

I love being outside! I surf, hike, camp, and volunteer in the tide pools at Cabrillo National Monument, where I teach visitors about the ocean. I try to spend as much time as possible at the beach or in the mountains. My friends and I play pub trivia every week (you're welcome to join!), and my life goal is to pet every dog in the USA.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll listen to any kind of music live, and the best Spotify playlist ever is Triple J’s Like a Version. My favorite movie of all time is Mean Girls (although Regina George’s favorite is Varsity Blues, which is good too).

Currently on my nightstand:
"Captain Corelli's Mandolin" by Louis de Bernières
"Educated " by Tara Westover
"Night Train to Lisbon" by Peter Bieri
"The Covenant of Water" by Abraham Verghese

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Working with baby elephants at the Royal Thai Elephant Conservation Center in Lampang, Thailand.

Teach, Learn, Share

Visit me in the tidepools at Cabrillo National Monument and I’ll teach you all about the ocean and marine life! I'd also be happy to help you practice Spanish, try surfing for the first time, or make a proper s'more.

What I Can Share with Hosts

The easiest guest you'll ever have. Fun conversation, homemade breakfast, and a friendship bracelet in whatever colors you choose. I'd also love to return the favor when you eventually come visit me in southern California! ;)
