ABOUT ME

I grew up in Minnesota and spent the first 21 years of my life there. Only occasionally do I miss the crunching snow and bone-chilling cold winters. After graduating from college I had to break out of my comfortable life in St. Paul, MN. Life was good, but I knew there was much more to see. Since college my life has revolved around agriculture and traveling. My desire to combine the two brought me to the beautiful island of Maui. I WWOOFed (World-wide workers on organic farms) for around six months. We found and stayed at a real hippy new-agey farm. OM!! Shiva shiva shakti om. Weekends and afternoons were spent hitch-hiking and exploring the island. I went to the island not knowing if I would ever leave, but after awhile I got an itch and realized there was much more to see in the world.

I still have the itch, and I want to travel and see the whole world. I am hoping through couch-surfing I will be able to see much more of this big beautiful world with out the high expenses of hotels and hospitality. Along the way I would love to meet fellow travelers and transients.

After leaving Maui I spent a short stint back in MN, but needed to leave to experience new things. I moved out to Eugene, OR and worked at a large biodynamic farm in the country. Currently, I am living in Portland. I love Oregon! Some refer to it as Cascadia. I grew up pronouncing it *OR-A-GONE*, and frequently playing oregon trail on the computer. I think I am adjusting to being a Portland-er fairly well so far. I love the rainforest and the pacific ocean. Does anyone know if Portland-ers pronounce couch surfing as cooch surfing?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have seen many beautiful things in this world already. I highly recommend going to as many National Parks as you can! Some I have visited are: Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Badlands, Crater Lake, Haleakala, Redwoods, Big Sur, Boundary Waters, Glacier, Devils Tower,

I also recommend taking the Empire Builder from St. Paul or Chicago to Portland or Seattle. The land changes so much along the way, becoming less populous and more barren. Ghost towns in North Dakota and Montana are amazing. I learned how truly large North America is and how empty and beautiful the West is.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, United States, Virgin Islands, U.S.
