About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To finally make up my mind

ABOUT ME

I'm Cordelia. I'm currently an au pair in Bristol, because I decided dentistry school wasn't for me.

I might come across as a bit shy, or I might not at all. I'm not really schizo, just change my mood a lot. I'm never angry though, so don't worry about that. I have a feeling almost all my friends have different views of me (like really different). Maybe it's like that for everyone. I'm always a good listener though, and that's something I take pride in. I think it's the reason I get along with most people.

PHILOSOPHY

Einmal ist keinmal (just kidding)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm an au pair now, so I don't have my own place. So right now, I can only contribute with my presence (sounds like I'm terribly big headed, lol). But, depending on what kind of appartement I get when I start studying next year, I'd love to host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met the coolest CS-zombies at igfest. And then stayed with Lola, which was great. So not very much, but very positive :)

Interests

Cooking/baking/making drinks (preferably alcoholic)- I'm a foodie, yes. And a vegetarian one at that.
Reading/writing is my life. I dream of being an author someday. It's not looking too bright.
Theatre, from either perspective. I love both acting and watching.
Internet. Oh yes. I'm afraid I have a big weakness for spending hours at nanowrimo.org or jezebel (yes. I'm quite fond of feminism and if you're against it, we probably won't get along very well).
People watching.
General strolling around. Especially if it happens at a zoo.
I also enjoy gluing money to the ground and watch people try to take it.
Dancing, more enthusiasticly than good even though I've taken a few classes.

Music, Movies, and Books

I was writing a long list but it didn't feel very constructive. So I'll just write the things I feel have really affected me.
Haruki Murakami - my literary idol. A huge influence on my writing. Also opened my eyes to magical realism, my fav genre. And I like ducks much more since I read Wind-up bird chronicles. Duck people!Hated Norwegian wood though.
Yvonne Vera - wrote the most beautiful books I've ever read, made me more aware of poetry (something I'm usually not very into) and a lot of other important stuff she writes about.
Kate Atkinson - made me really look forward to uni.
Narnia and Harry Potter. To prepare for my going to Hogwarts. Of course. They just forgot to send my letter in time. Narnia would be OK to.

Movies
Amelie - I always try to do little, anonymous good stuff for people. And I always think of Amelie when I do. And I used to have her hairdo.
Darjeeling Ltd. - made me want that spiritual journey to India even badder. Ouch.
Corpse Bride - that's what'll happen when I die. Because I say so.(day of the dead is the awesomest).

Music
Kimya Dawson - has helped me through so much shit.
Belle & Sebastian - always makes me happy.ALWAYS.
Regina Spektor - I'm always singing her songs, for better or worse.
Billie the Vision & the Dancers - no reason, they're just wierd and I like it.
And right now I also listen a lot to Janis Joplin because of a friend who loves her and I got influenced. I'm very easily influenced.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wild dolphins? I feel like whatever I say, it's going to sound just... wrong. I believe in the greatness of little things.
I did see Anders and Måns on the great street of Avenyn once, that was epic.

Teach, Learn, Share

Yes, I always give up after a year or so in my classes so I know a little bit of a lot of shit. Dancing. Capoeira. Cooking (actually, something I'm quite good at). Uh, dentistry (not something we want to practice, tho, haha). Some gardening (helping in gardens, also did woofing). Chemistry? ...
