About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn everything I can about cod fish, fishing, and fisheries management in a year

ABOUT ME

After fourteen years of school, I set off for a year to study cod fish, fisheries, and fishery management in the North Atlantic. After a year of travel, I'm back in the US, working on a sailing schooner and teaching students about Long Island Sound.

In addition to fish and boats, I also am passionately interested in all issues of environmental sustainability. When I'm not busy with those things, I also sing songs about the sea, knit, cook, and am on the lookout for any types of local folk dancing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I fell in love with the ocean in August 2005, when I spent ten days at sea on SSV Corwith Cramer, a sailing brigantine. We sailed from Woods Hole, Massachusetts to Rockland, ME. I climbed in the rigging and watched whales in the Gulf of Maine while we were out at sea with no land in sight and stood on the bow at night and watched the stars in the night sky stretch out over the ocean - and since then I haven't stopped thinking about the sea.
