About Me
Howdy, my name is Cody. I currently live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I'm tall and unthreatening. My math skills are adequate, and I can appreciate a good bottle of scotch. If it were socially acceptable to wear 100% denim 100% of the time, I would do that. My favourite episode of Friends is the one where Chandler catches Joey and Ross taking a nap together on the couch.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am planning a working vacation across Europe with my girlfriend, Holly. Couchsurfing sounds like a fun and interesting way to meet locals, enjoy the culture of our surroundings, and get a bit of information we wouldn't necessarily have access to in a hostel or hotel.
Interests
I like plants a lot! I'm growing my first urban garden this year, and so far it isn't a complete disaster. Being outdoors and in nature make me extremely happy, unless I see a spider. Spiders make me unhappy.
My girlfriend and I are experimenting with fermentation and are slowly becoming the masters of kombucha, sauerkraut, and all things pickles. If you would like to exchange recipes, or talk about pickles, that would be acceptable.
I am also a bit of a music nerd, and love discovering and sharing new bands. I can talk about music all day, so feel free to shut me up if it starts to get annoying.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One time Holly and I were driving in downtown Toronto in the pouring rain. We went through an underpass and she noticed what looked like an injured kitten so we stopped the car a block away and I went with a towel to investigate.
It turned out to be a baby raccoon with a broken leg. I scooped it up and soon strangers started asking me if they could help, and we called several animal rescue services. Unfortunately it was a weekend, and they were all busy so the earliest they could retrieve the animal was in several hours.
By this time, the raccoon had accepted me as its new mother, and was cuddled up in the towel mewing at me. So of course, we brought it home and made it a cozy bed out of a cardboard box. Once it had dried and rested a bit, its health seemed to improve.
When the rain cleared an animal rescue team came to get the baby, and brought it back to the location where we found it, so they could find and reunite it with its real mother. The amazing part is that I didn't get rabies or worms!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm in my element when I'm in the kitchen, so I would love to teach you some cooking tips! I would love to learn how to make some of your cultural dishes to bring home and share with my family and friends.
I would also be able to share some of my travel experiences, and offer advice if you are planning a trip to Canada. I am very eager to learn and experience the local life as you know it.
We'll probably become best friends during the course of my stay, so I'd be more than happy to return the favour of your generosity whenever and wherever our travels in life take us!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am more than willing to share any trail mix I might be carrying. I can also make you the best poached eggs of your entire life. If you're thinking about changing your facial hair, I can give you my honest opinion without being too brutal. I play more video games than I like to admit, so if need be I can help you kill any monsters in Zelda you are currently having trouble with.
