Overview
About Me
My name's Cody! I studied advertising at De Montfort University in Leicester, and until heading to Australia, I'd been living in Columbia, Mo (CoMo), working in digital marketing and trying to sort out this thing called life. Before working, I also studied at the University of Bonn and the University of Missouri.
Outside of that, I'm 25 years old, I absolutely love playing drums, and I spend as much time as possible having chats over coffees or beers. I've played in all sorts of bands, spent way too much time studying and working the last few years, and generally spend all my free time looking out for my friends.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing is a great way to travel, as well as help out other travelers. It's also a great way to make the world a bit less scary of a place. If something helps connect like-minded people, it's something worth getting involved in, especially these days. I always say that when it goes well, it's like meeting up with old friends, you just happen to not have met them before.
Interests
Music, soccer or football (depending on where you're from), basketball, podcasts, cooking, reading, marketing and advertising, meeting new people and making new friends, drinking coffee, chatting over a beer, seeing the world, and trying to make the world a little bit less intimidating for the people I meet.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: That's so tough. There's so many things, ranging from metalcore (This or the Apocalypse, Words like Daggers) to singer-songwriters (Hozier, Frank Turner) to rock (The 1975, Mutiny on the Bounty) to rap (Kyle, Earl Sweatshirt, Jez Dior) to tropical house (Kygo, Thomas Jack). However, beyond being someone who truly enjoys listening to music (and is rarely caught without a trusty pair of headphones), I'm a musician as well, primarily as a drummer, which means I also love just the sheer joy of playing music with other people. Currently learning bass as well, and I've got aspirations to learn how to DJ in the near future.
Movies: Honestly just starting to get into films (primarily documentaries). If you've got recommendations, I'd love to hear them!
Books: So many. Charles Dickens is amazing, gotten really into Karl Pilkington of late, Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, the works of F. Scott Fitzgerald, Malcolm Gladwell, and so many more. I love trying to challenge myself in my post-uni life by staying well-read, and not just with the newest pop fantasy. I'm really trying to push my comfort zones and knowledge spheres. Lately, it's been through reading about politics and photography, so if you've got recommendations, let me know!
TLDR; I could talk books and music for hours.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Although it's not something I DID, per se, I was living in Leicester when they won the Premier League title for the first time, and THAT'S worth a story and photo or two to share.
Teach, Learn, Share
I've got a good variety of stories that I can share, or books, business, and various sorts of music to discuss. I've also played music (primarily drums, but I used to play trumpet, euphonium TC, a bit of bass and keys, and a bit of cello, as well as singing in choirs), so I'd love to share music, as well. I'm more than willing to learn about truly anything, I think seeing what people are passionate about is a truly great experience.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Great conversations, and a general agreeableness, I'd like to think. In more concrete terms, on a good day, I can also make pretty good tacos and breakfast foods, and as I've been learning to cook, my repertoire has been expanding. More than willing to help around the house and such!
