About Me

Hey, friend! I hope wherever you are in the world that you are doing well and happy.

My name is Cody. I’m from Utah but am always trying to be on the move. My lifestyle is full-time, slow travel where I try to stay in a city for a month before I move on to the next with just me and my backpack.

I graduated in digital marketing and am currently on a sabbatical. I am not a fan of living alone in a city, as I find it hard for me to force myself to branch out and meet people. For that reason, I love Couchsurfing and doing Workaways.

My life story is similar to many: I grew up in a very conservative, religious community as a gay man. After experiencing a few paradigms shifts, I decided I wanted to spend the next decade traveling to experience as much as I could with my new outlook on life after leaving Mormonism.

I have found my favorite passions to be playing beach volleyball, working out, coffee shops, making lattes, learning languages, meeting unconventional people, and chasing new experiences.

I am very open-minded and try my best to be a considerate human at my core. I value time shared with people who are similar. I have a very introverted nature and love intimate settings. Not a fan of clubs, bars, loud settings, etc.

I eat a plant-based diet for health reasons and happy to share any tips and tricks for anyone interested in that lifestyle.

I am vaccinated.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Easy—the people. It’s addicting, really. I have no desire to stay in hotels anymore. Even if I had all the money in the world, there is nothing like the adventures and perspectives you gain from staying with a local. The thought of making friends from all around the world is beautiful to me. To be “dramatic”, why would you go to war with a country you have friends in?

Music, Movies, and Books

I'd rewatch the Harry Potter series every day if that's all I had to do. However, it's hard for me to stay awake during any movie nowadays 🙈

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seen a live brain surgery...the human body is wild !!
Sahara Desert Trek
Hitchhiking
Travelled one month in Europe with no set plans (best way to do it).
Sold all my belongings and moved to Mexico

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love all the help I can get with Spanish, Catalan, and French. I’m interested in learning more plant-based recipes. Most importantly, whatever you want share with me will be received with gratitude.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to leave places better than I found it, and that includes the people. When I come into your home, nothing makes me happier than to be permitted to help out in any way. Whether that’s doing dishes while we engage in conversation or tend to any other matters. My favorite thing to do in the world is listen. I learn so much more that way. In that regard, I’m most certain we’ll have the best of chats!

I can also teach guitar/piano, English/Spanish, and video editing!
