About Me

Hey there,

My name is Cody and I am a 25 y/o easy going, down to earth lad out exploring the world. I am currently living and working in London, at a school coaching sports and helping out where I can. With this I am fortunate enough to get a number of weeks I can use to travel around the world. Most times I have been travelling with a companion except when moving to London. I am currently on my first trip solo through Spain, hoping to go through Portugal near the end of August.

I am still figuring out the best way, or my favourite way to travel. I do enjoy being solo and the freedom this allows but it is nice to share experiences with other people and I would really enjoy getting to know the local culture better and work on improving my Spanish and other languages I may be subjected too.

I have started to feel my calling and will complete my post-grad in teaching once I make it home to New Zealand. In the meantime I want to make memories that will last a lifetime, and to continue learning about myself and growing along the way. I'm continually learning from everything I do and want this to continue throughout my travels.

I am equally happy being out on my own, so if you have a busy schedule ahead I am grateful for the help and will keep the disruptions to a minimum.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have known about couchsurfing for a while now but it hasn't been something that I thought I could do. But recently I thought to myself, why? Why didn't I think I could do this. At times I can be shy especially on meeting new people, but i I am continually putting myself in new and uncomfortable situations to become a more confident and assured person. Couchsurfing fits in perfectly as it allows me to connect with locals on a different level than if I am to just stay in hostels or other types of accommodation. That is why I would like to give couchsurfing a go and I feel like it is going to be an outstanding experience and I can't wait to get started.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite music ranges depending on my mood and what I am doing but I do enjoy listening to more chilled albums, like Jack Johnson. New Zealand reggae such as Six60, Kora, Fat Freddie's Drop. But I do love a bit of everything, and like a bit of old school hip hop/RnB as well.

One of my favourite movies would have to be Cool Runnings, I love a good underdog story and this one comes across as being so unlikely. Other top flicks would be Braveheart, Forrest Gump, The Green Mile and Interstellar. The list could be a lot longer but I'll leave it at 5.

I really enjoyed the Harry Potter books when I was younger (didn't everyone), but my favourite author is Andy McNab, who has an interesting history in the army and a pretty crazy Non-fiction called Bravo Two Zero. Which is an amazing insight into the lives of elite SAS soldiers and what happens when things go massively wrong. I am currently into books that open my eyes to the goings on in the world and help me expand my knowledge.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing experiences I have had in my life to date would be working at a summer camp in America. I was privileged in that I got to work for a not for profit camp working with kids from the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn etc. Many who had never seen the country or been out of the city before. This was unlike anything I had ever done in my life and I got immense joy out of bringing happiness and excitement even if only for such a short period of time. This helped find my passion and is one of the main reasons I want to get into teaching in the future. I would still be doing it but unfortunately it wasn't a full time job throughout the year.

Teach, Learn, Share

One of my biggest passions is health and fitness and something I studied at University. I love exercising and eating healthy but more than happy to indulge as well. Everything in moderation, right! I am happy to offer advice, on nutrition and training, and can show you exercises as well.

I am interested in learning Spanish and happy to help with teaching English at the same time, although I think that could be difficult but a whole lot of fun.

I can share a positive attitude mixed with an open mind, I enjoy deep conversations on just about all topics and most of all I want to share and spread happiness.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As said directly above. I am happy to share life experiences, great conversations, happiness and joy.
