About Me

From what I have learned, experiences are what define you as a person. For me the best thing is that I don't know myself, yet I am excited to learn as every moment is an experience to be gained.

What I do know is ...

I am

18 years young , happy go lucky guy with opportunistic and ambitious outlook on life who often finds an adventure out of anything and everything.

I have an easy going, open personality that my friends comically tell me is very similar to that of a Golden Retriever. I live for the moments in which a sporadic conversation sparks with a stranger.

My ever so changing story so far ...

Facing the decision of the average High School graduate and unknowing to myself, I chose to take a year off to work and to hopefully travel. Within a month of being on my own I have traveled 1,030 nautical miles from my hometown and settled on a job at local cannery in Ketchikan, Alaska. Being the optimist I am, I set high hopes for the season yet was greatly disheartened after it being one of the worst fishing years yet. However, I was blessed with the opportunity to meet many new and now forever long term friends in a bunkhouse style setting while at the same time being able to explore the wonderful town and areas around me. I have fallen in love with the town of Ketchikan and plan to come for many years.

In short it I say I don't know myself. To me that's okay because I could not be any more stoked and ambitious for the well rounded person I am to become and that each person, place and experience will put me one more step to reaching that never ending destination...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My interests of the world are to travel all the nook and crannies it has to offer, to meet amazing people, see amazing things and when provided, eat amazing food

I still have a couple years down the road until then depending on what I want to do.

Until then I am using Couchsurfing to find a place to rest my gear and head for anytime being in Anchorage or nearby areas to Girdwood, Alaska . I have currently applied to the Alyeska Ski Resort and hope to nail a job as a Ski Instructor/ Restaurant Server/ and or whatever is available.

In the meantime I am absolutely content with the gear and comfy hammock I have for a bed. Just why not meet some really cool Alaskans along the way?

Interests

My interests pertain to, yet don't have to be, anything and everything that is out in the open sun and in the fresh air.

More specifically ...

- Skiing;
My Father was a Ski Instructor for a good 30 some years so I take
pride in the fact that I was practically born onto the slopes and that I
have been skiing ever since I could remember.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I feel I have done many things that have been purely amazing. However to me the epitome, and what I most remember, would have to be the spring break of my senior year.

Me and two friends with hardly any planning, except for the total mileage, took a week long road trip through seven states with the end destination being Utah.

Our route was from Washington to Portland, down the coastline of Oregon to the Redwoods. A brief stop in San Francisco would then lead us further south and then east into Yosemite National Park. From there we traveled through Nevada to then stay at Las Vegas. Our final stretch was through Arizona to Utah where we were able to see most of the National Parks such as Zion and Bryce. Then to end our trip we legged a 14 hour ride through Idaho and then back home.

As each town we passed was individually unique and exciting to see, and going through so many popular areas like the Redwoods, Las Vegas and the Canyons of Utah, the most amazing by far was getting lost in Yosemite late at night.

The most memorable experience I believe I have had was being able to look up at the night sky that was illuminated by the milky way and every star imaginable. It was such a learning experience to be so far from the touch of a city light and to know that there is so much out there that the eye cannot see, yet so captivating to what it could.

I forever cherish the times in which I can see the night sky even remotely close to that on top of Yosemite.
