About Me

Hello,

My name is Cody Woods. I'm a huge basketball fan. I frequently travel for work and often times when I am out I like to find the hidden gems of anywhere I'm at including restaurants, bars, or even just somewhere outside with a beautiful view. My favorite part of traveling is learning the psychology and culture of the people everywhere I'm at. I think that's a really important thing for anyone to do if they have the privilege. Hearing other viewpoints, experiences and opinions is a must for me. I'm all about intellectual diversity and of course ethnic and cultural diversity as well. I believe everyone should be.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm a stand up comedian and I travel for work. For me, people make the place. I love getting to know people and being intellectually stimulated whenever I can. I've known other comedians who have made great friends with hosts or while they were hosting others.

Interests

I love the art of stand up comedy. I love the individuality that it provides when done right. I'm into fitness as well. I'm a gym member so if you need a spotter let me know.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a big fan of audio books. I'm really into the self improvement genre. One of my favorite books that I recently "read" is The War of Art. It's a fantastic read for anyone interested a brilliant breakdown of the ongoing struggles of being an artist. It will help you with anything you're into.

Music wise I love 90's East Coast Hip Hop. I can listen to anything but I never get sick of Big L.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I beat a former chess world champion when I was in the 7th grade. I did it by accident. I could probably never do that again and I still can't believe it happened. He said it was the first time he was defeated in decades.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share some pretty hilarious stories about being on the road as a stand up comic. I used to have a day job in the medical field as well which also had some pretty ridiculous happenings.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hey if you need help cleaning or moving stuff around don't hesitate to ask. I'd offer my cooking skills but I'd have to acquire some first.

But, I can make a few good things if you were interested in having a lunch/dinner get together. But I'm no Michael Jordan with cooking. Maybe more of a Steve Kerr.

Sometimes I actually get free tickets for the shows I'm doing so you're more than welcome to take advantage if I have some.
