Overview
About Me
I wear many hats. I shoot film, video, photos, and words in every direction. I enjoy life in its many ways and do my best to document it.
I also love food and beer. I've never had a big family and I didn't grow up with large family dinners, so I have to make up for lost time by eating with as many people as I can. Whether I host or surf, I'm usually cooking!
I've lived in San Diego my entire life and it will always be home to me. Its one of the most beautiful, relaxed places I've been and I couldn't be happier to live where I do.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I always promote CouchSurfing, trying to turn suspecting onlookers into fully fledged surfers and hosts!
I've done more surfing than hosting, but until I leave on a new adventure I love hosting new people!
Everyone I've stayed with through CS has been incredible. I've surfed in California, Oregon, Washington, throughout Europe, and in Egypt. My experiences with CS have turned me into a total convert and have left me craving more.
I've hosted people from all over the world, including Montreal, Singapore and Poland.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm huge on movies. I won't list my favorites or anything because they're always changing. I like everything from art house films to classics to big blockbusters and cheesy B movies.
I'm always striving to find new music to my ears. I guess if I could pick a genre I enjoy the most, it might be blues, but that'd be unfair to all the other music I listen to. I play blues harmonica, so if you know the blues on another instrument, I already want to play with you.
With literature, I'm big on non-fiction. I get enough fiction in film that I find reading true stories, biographies, political books, travel books and all much more exciting.
I almost like talking about these things more than actually ingesting them so if you love something in music, film, or literature, talk to me about it and you'll find out all of my tastes and opinions and questions!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiking has been a true joy of my life and there are two hikes that have always stood out to me:
- Sunrise at Mt. Sinai. Hike up the desert crag trail with a bedouin guide as dawn approaches and grab a seat to watch the earth spin into the gaze our sun. I'm not a religious person, but it's a truly spiritual experience.
- Half Dome at Yosemite. I grew up camping in the incredible Yosemite Valley under the shadow of the mighty half dome. Hiking to it's base and climbing the cables to the summit was one of the proudest moments of my life.
BONUS: Less than a week ago of writing this (4/15/2015) I got married to the most amazing woman I've ever met. It was the happiest day of my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know movies. It may sound like a pointless thing to spend a life educating oneself about, but I love em and can't get enough of em.
If you want to know anything about film, I can teach.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I usually share a meal and good conversations with my hosts (or surfers) and often learn from them as well!
