About Me

Hi. My name is Coenraad Bronn and I am from South Africa.

I am extremely passionate about traveling, meeting people from across the world and experiencing different cultures. It makes me feel alive! I enjoy meaningful conversations about a wide variety of topics. I truly believe I can learn something from every person I meet.

I enjoy helping people and making the world a better place in whatever way I can.

Ever since I traveled for the first time, I absolutely loved it.

Whilst I traveled as often as I could, I was often limited to a short trip once a year. This was never quite enough. For many years I had a dream of traveling for an extended period of time.

In 2022 I was fortunate enough to be awarded Permanent Resident status in Canada. Although I have never been to Canada, I was excited about the prospect to live and work in a different country. I decided to pursue the opportunity and emigrate to Canada. The move also provided me with the perfect opportunity to fulfill my dream of traveling for a few months.

I quit my job in South Africa, sold/donated most of what I owned and packed a backpack. For the last five months I have traveled in Central and South America. I have met amazing people and have gone on countless adventures. The stories and memories will last a lifetime. It has been incredibly rewarding, more than I could have ever imagined.

It is now time for me to travel to Canada and start the next chapter of my life. I am extremely excited to see what this adventure has in store for me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Please note that I am new to Couchsurfing. However, I am not merely looking for an affordable way to travel Canada. I am committed to the mutually beneficial exchange that Couchsurfing stands for.

I am moving to Canada as a permanent resident in November 2022. Since I haven't been to Canada before, I intend to explore as much of the country as possible before I decide in which city to settle and look for a job. This will enable me to make an informed decision about where I want to live.

To really get to know the cities, I want to experience them as a local. I want to engage in meaningful conversations with people who know and love their respective cities. That is why I am on Couchsurfing. I want to see Canadian cities through the eyes of locals. This is very difficult to do when staying in hostels, hotels or in an Airbnb.

In addition to exploring Canada to make a decision about my future, I genuinely enjoy meeting people and sharing life experiences with them.

I hope that Couchsurfing will allow me to meet interesting and like-minded people all over Canada who will be willing to share their culture, cities and life stories and engage in constructive conversations that we can all learn from. I am certainly looking forward to sharing my culture and unique experiences with my hosts.

Once I am settled in Canada, I would like to return the favor and host other travelers who are looking to have an adventure and learn more about Canada.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a wide variety of music, but my favorite genre is electronic dance.

I like reading business memoirs and self-help books. Favorites include: Shoe Dog, That Will Never Work and Ride of a Lifetime.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been fortunate to travel to 27 countries and collect countless memories. Highlights of my last few months include:

- Hiking a volcano in Guatemala and seeing eruptions throughout the night
- Snorkeling in the coral reef in Belize and swimming with sharks and manatees
- Swimming in cenotes in Mexico
- Experiencing the salt flats in Bolivia
- Visiting wonders of the world

Although these adventures were absolutely incredible, it is the people I have met along the way that make them truly memorable.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a neat and considerate guest and I undertake to abide by the house rules and at all times respect the host and their property.

I am always willing to share my culture and tell people I meet more about South Africa. I enjoy meaningful conversations about a wide variety of topics. I am open minded and enjoy hearing perspectives that differ from my own.

I don't view myself as a professional in the kitchen, but I am very skilled as a sous chef! I look forward to cooking with my host and will contribute where I can.

I am also willing to teach my host about the world of finance.

Being a South African that has traveled to many countries, I bring with me a different perspective on life that I am more than happy to share.
