About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To get out there, expand my comfort zone, and meet new people from new cultures.

ABOUT ME

I'm a research scientist by day, and active outdoors the rest of the time. I try to get out to rock climb, sail, kayak, surf, hike, camp, and ski as much as I can. I love finding new activities to get out and share with new friends.
I love getting out to a bar for drinks, a club to dance, or hanging out with friends for the evening.

PHILOSOPHY

I strive to follow the ancient Greek philosophy of "arête", or the constantly improving myself to be the best person I can be. This includes broadening life experiences as much as I can, learning as much as I can, and being a positive influence in the lives of those around me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

If I'm hosting, then I'm happy to help show you around San Diego, guide you to interesting places.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have hung out with a few couchsurfers, but haven't stayed at anyone's place, and roommate situations didn't allow me to let people stay at mine. That has since changed. :D

Interests

I am (trying to be) a scientist, and am driven by curiosity. I love hiking, backpacking, camping, rock climbing, mountain biking, sailing, and a whole slew of other outdoor activities.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kinds of music, though I've been in this place of loving indie rock, folk, and EDM/IDM for a while.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done a few amazing things just in recent years. Burning Man was an experience unto itself, I have gone on a solo backpacking trek through isolated and rugged coastline, and stood on lava minutes after it has cooled. It's all been pretty incredible.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a lot about the brain, computers, food and cooking, and outdoorsy stuff. Happy to share it all!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, El Salvador, France, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain
