Remember to wash your hands frequently, and try your very best to wear a mask (you can make your own). When mask isn't exclusive, and does no harm, why shouldn't we wear it
Together we can make a difference, and we can travel again ️
Hi, hola, ola, ciao, 你好, bonjour!
I am from Hong Kong and currently studying naval architecture (hmm basically designing a ship… wanna know more? Let's hang out and I can teach you more 🛥) in England.
As I am born and raised in Hong Kong, air ticket in Asia isn't as cheap as that in Europe, I only travelled once a year and with my protective parents. The furthest place I went was Australia (once for outdoor learning in Queensland, in which I learnt how to ride a bike lol, once with my parents to Sydney and Melbourne). Right after my public exam, I spent 18 days in Taiwan, mostly in Taipei (FYI, most people just spent three to four days in Taipei). In this trip, I tried lots of new stuff like staying in a hostel, hitchhiking (it's really new to me as I always stayed in a hotel and took metro/ train/ public bus) and since then I hope to try out new thing and talk with the locals and other travellers.
After coming to the UK for several months, after my first year exam I finally got my very first solo travel experience… going to York, which is just an hour and half away from my home (Newcastle 🖤🖤). Sounds stupid that I stayed there for three days, but it's truly an unforgettable experience for me… (first solo trip!). Then in my first easter holiday, I tried another solo travel experience… Edinburgh and Glasgow as I found a £1 bus ticket to Edinburgh! While staying in the hostel, several travellers shared their travelling experience with me and introduced me this application. However, I forgot to install it (got a pea brain🤦🏻♀️).
As there are so many LCCs in Europe (ryanair saves me but not the earth), I started travelling a lot. I studied physics, chemistry and economics in high school, my history sucked. However, after entering university, I got lots of free time(in my first and second year…) to watch documentaries and I found those about modern history (from World War One onwards) really interesting. Then I started to read more about the Balkans (Tito's time) and have an idea to visit this area. So in my last summer holiday, I went to the Balkans with my sister who used coach surfing a lot during her three month trip in Europe. We hanged out with some locals and stayed in their home (in Sarajevo and Warsaw). During this trip, we, without our parents, tried some of the craziest stuff we had in our life… we went to a town called Pocitelj which is 30 minutes away from Mostar. However, there was no bus between Pocitelj and Mostar so we HAD to hitchhike to get back. It's the first time for me to show my thumb up (previous experience was to ask people in the car park lol) and eventually we travelled on a TRUCK to get back to Mostar. We also tried the Tito Express (a 12-hour train between Bar, a city in Montenegro, and Belgrade. We also hitchhiked from Dubrovnik to Kotor (which is just mental to me!). We also climbed up a ladder in Kotor to save €8. But it's one of the happiest trip I have ever had.
And during this trip, we talked to many locals and they shared wit us their experience and opinions on social issues. The most memorable one is that while we were in Croatia, three men told us their experience during the war between Croatia and Serbia. It's beyond the stuff I read on Wikipedia and YouTube. And also in Poland, the host shared with us how religious had a huge impact on political issue which is something that I have never heard of. So I hope I can learn more from others as everyone has their own story (feel free to ask me the issues happening in Hong Kong and I can share with you my opinion which is something can't be found on BBC/ the Times 🙂).

I enjoy travelling with others but sometimes my friends aren't free so I will just go by myself. But it will be nice if I can find a buddy (or buddies) to talk to on the road and exchange opinions and we can become friends:)
Eager to learn culture, social issues, history with locals. It's quite difficult to hangout with others without this platform. Want to gain knowledge outside Wikipedia.
And of course, living in a local's home is a fruitful experience. Not only can I save money but also I can understand the daily life and their home (for example if you couchsurf in Hong Kong, you can probably understand how small our apartment is )
