I am 25 yrs old and was born and raised in Kansas, where I attended college at KSU. I majored in marketing and minored in American Ethnic Studies and Economics. After college I decided I was going to pursue my quest to see bigger and better things. The first step was moving to a major city, because I had always lived in a small town. I moved to Kansas City as quickly as I could to find a job. I worked there for 2 years building promotional product websites for large corporate companies. This job was great but it wasn't my true passion, which is photography and cinematography.

But then one day while visiting a friend in LA, I was given the greatest opportunity I've had this far in my life. He asked me if I wanted to join him on a trip traveling across Europe and create a documentary series about the true meaning of happiness, which was something we had talked about for some time. The obvious answer was yes. "Yes it's crazy", I thought, but during this trip I could capture a great story, and join my friend in his dream of seeing the world. While doing so I'd also get to follow my passion of photography and cinematography. During this trip we hope to travel to 15-20 different countries. We also hope to be able to capture a glimpse of what each city and country has to offer in our documentary series. We want to capture the real culture of each place and not just what most tourists see. A documentary off the beaten path.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I know a few people who have used couch surfing and have always spoke highly of their experiences. Because of their recommendations, I thought that this opportunity would be the best way to get a true insight into a specific area or culture, with locals who live there. While traveling I hope to do 4 things. First and most important to me is to meet and connect with the locals. Secondly, apply the experience of the locals to find attractions and dining that are not typically shown in a travel book, places off the beaten path. Thirdly, to better understand myself in comparison to others around the world. This will allow me to gain perspective and insight into others lives and what truly makes them happy. Lastly, I would like to take the knowledge that I have gained from this trip to inspire others to travel and get out of their comfort zones and experience cultures that they have never come in contact with. I will do this not only by word of mouth, but with the resulting documentary that we make.

兴趣

Most of my time is spent trying to be creative and exploring new things. I love taking photos or short videos and I'm always trying to improve and achieve new perspectives. I also enjoy music, especially live shows and festivals. I made some music beats with friends for fun in college but was never as good as I wanted to be. I enjoy all forms of art, especially modern art and sculptures. I enjoy nature, whether it's a walk through a city park or camping. I also enjoy learning more about anthropology, geography, astrology and music production. I enjoy relaxing and living every moment to the fullest regardless of what I'm doing.

I went skydiving by myself and felt like I truly lived. It made me realize how small I am in the grand scheme of things. While amazing, the experience may soon be trumped by this trip, which will inevitably be my life's greatest accomplishment.

My knowledge is your knowledge. I'm an open book and if anyone wants to learn what I know about photography, marketing, cinematography, economics, or American ethnic studies, I am willing to teach. I can also lend you the insight I have gained from being immersed in American culture my whole life. I love learning about anything and everything. Some of my learning ventures have been about cultures, geography, music production, video production, using instruments, and anthropology. I love talking about all aspects of marketing and business, from research analysis to product design and anywhere in between.

I can buy us food and beer or wine. I can cook, clean and do anything else around the house that needs done. I would also include hosts in activities that I plan if they had time and wanted to join. I'm a very positive person so I also bring good energy with me. If hosts like photos of themselves I could do a small photo shoot for them at their favorite local places, or if they like the photos I have on my hard drive from previous experiences, I would be more than willing to share them.
