Overview
About Me
I have lived in Kumasi, Ghana for the last three years. I went to Ghana originally in 2012 to participate in a medical mission and cultural experience with my university. In 2013 I returned to work expand my knowledge of disease in a developing country along with my desire to immerse myself fully in Ghana. I taught in a primary school along with assisted in a local orphanage for the first five months and then continued to the local Hospital where I gained many experiences with administration, disease control, laboratory, psychology, and a great amount of time in maternity and surgery.
January 2014 I began to work with a company from the UK hosting international volunteers in my home in Ghana providing placements such as medical, education, childcare, and disabled children assistance. This was the most enjoyable and eye opening experience of my life! After years of fulfillment and joy I found it time to continue on to the next chapter of my life, leading me to now begin new travels around the world.
I had a baby girl last year and she is my world! She and I will be traveling the world together as I hope to raise her with a cultural and diverse background. The world is such an incredible place full of beauty and passion! I hope to raise her to understand its everlasting opportunities from an early start!
Currently I have relocated back to FL until I can find the next adventure for us to join!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I hope to gain experiences around the world. While living in Ghana I became a local and as I have walked into a new chapter I have a new desire to find that culture again. Traveling will broaden my understanding of different parts of the world outside of Ghana in other countries of Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, South America, and beyond!
I hope to bring culture and experience to my daughter as she grows while also finding my next place to settle in.
Interests
I am interested in volunteering with environmental opportunities. In Ghana I was introduced to the use of compost and public toilets that were Eco-friendly! I would like to participate in a disaster relief project somewhere in the world where I can assist in the wellbeing of a population.
I hope to find a position working with community development in a population not known to me. To involve the skill set learned while living in Ghana.
I love to immerse myself in the culture and lifestyles around me including foods, daily work, language, conversation, and more.

Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to learn Arabic! It would be nice to discuss living in the West African culture as it was my home for three years. It very much has become a part of me! I would love to share experiences and discuss life as a whole. I am a mother and truly love my daughter.
If you ask what my purpose in life is I would anwser you with development. I love to help find solutions for and make connections to better lives/communities! I enjoy the beach and grew up traveling the US from birth. I studied outside the US during my time in University and truthfully that is when I fell in love with culture.
