About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I believe an interesting life more more important even then a happy life (though they tend to go hand in hand).

ABOUT ME

I'm a small-town boy who always dreamed of getting out and seeing the world, which I'm finally doing. The first time I left my country (Canada) I drove in head-first by taking an ESL job in Incheon, South Korea. The experience has been amazing, but it doesn't stop there as I'm planning to travel Europe and NYC on my way back to Canada, and then move across the continent to Vancouver.

I love pop culture mumbo jumbo, especially concerning movies, music, sports, and TV; but also novels, comic books, and video games. I also love to talk politics or religion if it comes up. I play a little guitar when I'm drunk, and I'm usually game for anything.

I'm a little shy, but can come out of my shell in a hurry when conditions are right. I'm polite and empathetic, but have an absurd sense of humor. I'm proud to be a geek. And I want to become a global citizen.

PHILOSOPHY

Strive not for a happy or content or peaceful life, but rather an interesting one.

"I am not contained between my hat and boots" - Walt Whitman

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

During the summer of 2008, my new roommate asked me if I'd be cool with hosting couchsurfers and I said "sure!" We hosted about a dozen people or more from almost as many different countries, and it was the best summer ever! Awesome idea. Now that I'm leaving South Korea and travelling through Europe, I'm looking to couchsurfing to help me enjoy my experience even more.

Here in Korea, I'm game for meeting someone for a coffee, but my workdays are too long to host anybody sensibly. When I get back to Canada though, I plan on opening my couch up again!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My experiences only relate to hosting people for one summer, but it was an anmazing and remeberable one. We hosted lots of cool people. One guy from Melbourne, Australia was extremely well travelled and, as we learned, an internet and Canadian celebrity. Another trio from New Mexico cooked us the best (and most massive) vegan sheppard's pie imaginable while we sat back and listened to Abby Road. We hosted tons of other cool people too, some we just relaxed with at home, some we took out to the pub with us, but all meeting were rewarding.

Interests

I'm a geek, which narrows down my types of interests. Aside from pop cultur stuff, I like politics and philosophical discussion, though I'm not a snob. I've put aside reading War & Peace in order to read the Twilight and Harry Potter series'.
