Overview
About Me
I'm a cheerful guy who loves meeting new people and delving into unfamiliar places/experiences!
Immediately out of high school I spent some time working at a frame-shop making chairs, sofas, tables, and other wooden furniture. In addition, I dabbled in a general maintenance position learning the whole "handyman" trade. All the while bouncing in and out of school.
Lived in Raleigh, NC where I spent 3.5 years traveling the USA inspecting cellphone towers and training people to climb/inspect them for a telecommunications/engineering firm. If you ever want to know what northern Maine, or the rural Midwest, looks like from 1000+ feet... let me know!
Moved to Wyoming in 2018 to study wind energy technologies. During this period in Wyoming I spent about 9 months working for Vestas, a Danish wind energy company.
Currently, I'm getting rid of everything that won't fit within my ol' 2000 Toyota Camry so that I can hit the road for a while and continue my explorations of the US and Canada.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet friendly people and find places to stay in unfamiliar territory. While road tripping, I really want to periodically engage with lovely people who are passionate about their lives and eager to share a moment, or two, with a somewhat vetted stranger :)

Music, Movies, and Books
There's too many wonderful options. I'm a huge fan of diversity so I'm usually bouncing around between genres of music, literature, and film. Currently, I'm listening to a ton of jazz, with a focus on bossa nova (Antônio Carlos Jobim) in particular. I've been reading Edward Abbey as I psych myself up to delve into some North America deserts (Desert Solitaire) has been very entertaining. The most recent film I watched was Fantastic Mr. Fox... I watch it every year.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once climbed an 1100ft cell tower.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm always happy to explain bouldering to people who are unfamiliar. I'd like to think I do a decent job of expressing my love of climbing, and how to become acquainted with the sport, without mansplaining/being patronizing. As for climbing cell towers, I can go on for awhile if you really want to know the ins and outs of that field!
I'm genuinely interested to learn basically anything. As long as someone is passionate about what they teach, I'm very very eager to hear them out and hopefully gain a bit of knowledge/experience! Things I immediately think of, that I'd like to learn, include: trad climbing, sewing/knitting, basic geology, guitar/ukelele...
I enjoy sharing good company, great food, and grand adventures.
