About Me

Hi everybody !

My name is Colin and my moto is « work to travel » ! Following that idea, I am quiting my job on October 2021 and starting a 10.000kms hike through 19 countries in Europe (Netherland, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Czec Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Andorra, Spain and Portugal).

You can follow my adventure on Instagram : @alllas_k https://www.instagram.com/alllas_k/

My goal is to walk and to connect with the nature, the landscape and the culture of the place I'll pass by. And, in my opinion, Couchsurfing is a perfect way to do that.

Now let me introduce myself a bit :

I have a master degree in Political Science and public administration and I have worked 2 very different jobs. At firt, I was a guide for a bike tour company, riding in Spain with American Guests ; then, I have been a jurist for 2 years, advicing local territories in Liège.

I am passionated about litterature and poetry. I, myself, practice some SLAM which is a type of urban and popular poetry. The idea is that you write your name, get called on stage and have 3 minutes alone to "grab the mic' and speak your soul" (no instrument or anything).

When I am with CSer, I tend to be easygoing and enjoy as much a cup of tea with a deep conversation than a wild party in the alternative places.

Certainly hope to meet you someday, fellow Couchsurfers!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am using Couchsurfing because I love its community. So far, I have always met people who are very interesting. They teach me a lot about their culture and the news of their country and when I get back home, I feel deeply enriched.

When hosting you guys, it's like some fresh air in the routine of my daily life. It gives me an opportunity to travel a bit through your amazing experiences.
I am also a huge fan of my city (LIEGE THE BURNING TOWN) and always willing to help you discover its hidden gems.

Music, Movies, and Books

If I had to pick one song, one movie and one book, it would be respectively :

- Die Antwoord - Happy Go Sucky Fucky

- Peter Jackson - The Lord of the Rings (very original ! but huuuuge fan)

- Herman Hesse - Siddhartha (among plenty of others, but this author is just amazing)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once, I was hiking in Los Picos de Europa (Spain) with my bestfriend and we climbed a mountain. It was hard, and rainy, and foggy and we were hiking for already 4 days, so you can guess our mood was not at its peak !
When we reached the summit, the fog was so dense that we lost the signmarks of the trail. We were also so tired that we didn't care much and just wanted to go downhill.
After a couple hours we were completely lost, couldn't see 10 meters away and we started wondering how the hell we were gonna leave this place.
Fortunately, we found an abandonned sheperd village and we decided to rest a bit in it... At last, we slept in one tiny house
In the mornig, sun was all up, we decided to do a check of the area, which looked similar with our guidebook description, and discovered that we crossed a signmark 3 or 4 times the day before.
We then followed it to Covadonga, where you can find a famous church (and purify all your sins ! héhé)

Teach, Learn, Share

I am trying to learn spanish (¡Dios mio!), so I would LOVE if you can speak slowly with me !

In counterpart, maybe I can try to teach you some walloon (even though I am not very good :|...) or maybe just cook you dinner !

What I Can Share with Hosts

I don't exactly know what I'd like to share, I'd rather meet my hosts and then decide together what we can do to enjoy the journey.

As I said, I can show you the city and give you a small historical lecture on the buildings, the architectures and the political aspect.

I can also show you the alternative spots where you can party, hear some poetry or start a revolution ! ahah

But what, I prefer is those tiny moments, whether in between activities or in a cafén when we can share about our vision of the life. I think we're all very different (yet, sharing a huge among of common interests) and that it is enlighting to get to know the "truth" of each individuals".
