About Me

Closet nerd
Young writer
Former jock
Current waiter
Aspiring lawyer
Constant student

I'm 20 years old and grew up in San Jose, California, USA playing baseball, basketball, American football, water polo, volleyball, and trying my hand at just about any sport you can name. Recently, though, I've been sticking to rugby at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. At school I am majoring in English and spend much of my free time writing, reading, or playing Dungeons & Dragons with my friends. When it's all said and done I don't know what I want to do yet; owning a restaurant, looking for luck as a writer, or studying to be a lawyer all sound great, I'll just see where life takes me. I love to read, write, talk, and learn from people and the stories they have to share over a cup of coffee. If you have anything you find interesting, share it with me, because odds are I'll want to know more. Good music, TV, books, movies, comics, ideas, theories, stories, hikes, drinks, restaurants--anything, just send it my way. So far I've found that an open mind and a willingness to listen are the best teachers I have.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm spending my next semester in Glasgow, Scotland, and my cousin recommended using Couchsurfing to meet locals and like-minded people while I'm abroad, as well as a good way to save money during travel. Hopefully it works out!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Alabama Shakes, Alanis Morissette, The Smiths, Misterwives, Twenty One Pilots, Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, Green Day, John Foggerty
Movies: Dark Knight Trilogy, Les Miserables, Insidious, Inglorious Basterds, Frozen, The Departed, Spirited Away, Star Wars, Deadpool

Also very interested in graphic novels and want to explore anime and manga more. I've read V for Vendetta, Dark Knight Rises, The Killing Joke, and Arkham Asylum. Next on the list are Watchmen, The Invisibles, and Sin City. I really want to find a good Manga to start with so I'm up for suggestions. I've seen Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, One Punch Man, Attack on Titan (so far), and the first season of Noragami. Currently watching Bleach.

I play Dungeons & Dragons and am a level 6 Dwarf Barbarian.
My car is named the Millennium Falcon.
Right now I'm reading The Orphan Master's Son, a fiction novel that won the Pulitzer in 2013.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Built three houses in Mexico. Published a short story. Driven the coast of California. Interned for a judge. Bought a harmonica in Canada. Been to a whole lot of concerts and festivals. One time I turned seven.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you know any good local spots (restaurants, hikes, shops, anything really) that tourists would usually skip over or miss, please let me know!

Also, if you have time right now, look up Harry Baker and watch one of his videos.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can talk about basically anything and I like to think I offer good discussion. Exchanging ideas, hearing different opinions, and finding common interests with people are honestly the things I find most joy in. I can share my unique perspective and a few stories just as you can share yours. I also will gladly treat you to an outing of your choice in repayment for your hospitality.
