Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am travelling to the States on the 25th July 2016 for 2 months and will be making my way from Washington DC to Key West FLA and maybe coast to coast. Who knows where the road will take me. I will be mainly travelling by car but on a limited budget. I would like to couchsurf first, camp second and motel as a last resort. I hope to meet as many people as possible, writing my words as I journey along. Any help on my trip would be very much appreciated. And in the future, who knows, maybe I can repay my CS hosts and other fellow CS travellers by hosting myself.

Interests

I am particularly interested in writing, poetry, music, photography and art in general. I hope to participate in as many open mic events as might come my way on my travels. Some of my poems are sad and some are naughty. Some are just rambling trains of thoughts and some are just poems. I write about those little moments in life that happen upon us often without warning. I try to be original which is not always easy in a world already overcrowded with words. Whatever you read, please don't take me too seriously!

I like cycling too but not in a lycra skinny wheeled kinda way. The occasional MTBing to wake me up and give me a thrill but also quiet roads and cycle paths. We have some great trails here in SW Wales, UK. If you have a bike to loan I'd be responsible with it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Buying my doughnut shirt and wearing it whilst reading my naughty poems at open mic events!

And way back, riding a very unsuitable 400cc Suzuki motorbike along a sand track through an Australian rain forest to reach an isolated beach campsite. 6km in 4 hours.

Oh and recently on a family holiday to Mallorca in the Mediterranean I went stand up paddle boarding and jumped off a cliff. Okay it was a small cliff but it was a big leap of faith for me!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always happy to listen and to share whatever I have learnt along the way. For the past 16 years I have run a voluntary group which collects and refurbishes donated hand tools for an aid charity which equips training projects in Africa.
