I'm an English Teacher and an artist (metalsmithing and jewelry/ sculpture). My hometown is Chicago, USA. I live just outside of Seoul (in Ilsan)

PHILOSOPHY

Try to find exceptional local food everywhere I go. Avoid chain restaurants at all costs. Buy local, spend local if possible.

Will try to host in the future. Also happy to advise other foreigners coming to Korea in advance. I'm new to this site. Would be great to stay with some people on my travels for the experience and for meeting new people. Honestly, I don't mind spending a little money when I travel to support locally owned guesthouses etc. Just thought this idea was a good one.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Zar El Zindar Necropolis in Samarkand is pretty spectacular. If you go to Afra Siab (the old site of Samarkand and center of Sogdian Civilization where it stood when Gengis Khan burned it and killed everyone). And actually spend several hours walking through the scraggy hills outside the small museum. You will find your way to the partially excavated remains of one of the greatest cities of the Ancient world. SCUBA diving in Menjagan Island Marine Preserve off Bali Indonesia. Skiing in the Tien Shan Moutains, Kyrgyzstan.

I am an accomplished metalsmith. I have a studied Art History before that. I also have a pretty decent sense in the mountains/forests etc. I figure I know a lot of stuff I can share, I'm not sure if anyone is interested.
