About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn and experience as much as possible while spreading happiness along the way.

ABOUT ME

Hey fellow humans! I'm a lover of life who enjoys meeting unique people and learning about this chaotic, beautiful universe we live in. I am transgender, hence my references referring to me by Nicole, my birth name. Guess I haven't been active on here in a while haha but didn't want to make a new profile and make my friends rewrite their references. I love to be surrounded by art and music, and couldn't get by without more than a few animals in my house. Anything outdoors related is my jam.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe we only have one life to live, which makes it all the more important to experience as much as we can while we're here and decrease suffering wherever we are. That is why I am a vegetarian and want to be a Conservation Psychologist or Animal Behaviorist.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted three amazing girls and would love to surf all over the world.

Interests

I love to paint watercolors, write poetry and short stories, take nature photos, read obsessively, and practice Shou Shu, a Chinese martial art. I also play the Native American Flute and acoustic guitar. I feel more at home in the middle of a forest or in a tree than I do in my house.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read, and cannot possibly list all of my favorite books. Some great ones are Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials, all things John Green, Fight Club, Demian by Hermann Hesse, Fragment by Warren Fahy, Moby Dick, Heart of Darkness, The Lord of the Flies, The Red Book by Carl Jung, The Hannibal Series, Demon-Haunted World by Carl Sagan, The Memory of Whiteness by Kim Stanley Robinson, Ender's Game, Fahrenheit 451, The Brain and the Meaning of Life, The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, and The Everlost series.

My favorite music is mostly rock, indie and alternative, but really whatever fits my mood. Some favorite bands are Foals, Alt-J, Shearwater, Arctic Monkeys, The Kills, Pink Floyd, Ben Howard, Ms. Mr, The XX, Woodkid, Led Zeppelin, Spoon, Amanda Palmer, The Mountain Goats, Cat Power, Beirut, Amos Lee, Radiohead, and Andrew Bird.

For movies I would include Pulp Fiction, Boys Don't Cry, Avatar, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Dark City, the Truman Show, Blade Runner, Silence of the Lambs, The Fifth Element, Cabin in the Woods(hilarious), Yes man, Donnie Darko, and Benjamin Button.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I backpacked off-trail with my friends through Redwood National Park and discovered Amanita mushrooms, elk herds, giant pacific salamanders, waterfalls and awesome beaches. I also went on a backpacking trip to Twin Lakes, where I slept in the snow and went spelunking.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach the basics of guitar (although I'm still learning myself and am no expert) or help develop your drawing or painting skills. If you are writing something that you need edited, I can help with that as well since I am an English tutor. I would love to learn more acro yoga moves and practice with any willing hosts! I would also love to learn new guitar songs.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Basic guitar lessons, English grammar lessons or editing, watercolor paintings and drawings, some acro yoga moves. A positive personality and fun person to talk to. Also if you have any questions about what it means to be trans (that are respectful) I'm always happy to help people learn and spread awareness!

Countries I’ve Visited

Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama
