ABOUT ME
Wow, this is really objectifying. Like a resume.
Well, I'll start with some facts. I live and work in an aspiring ecovillage and education center, so as to support a way of life that is closer to one that works (the village model) and to spread positive elements to the mainstream.
I don't like defining myself, so I'll hold off on adjectives. Hopefully the rest of this gives you a good enough idea of what I'm like.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Surfing people's place from time to time, when I am somewhere and want cheap and interesting accommodations.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
A couple of surfs, and all's gone great. Haven't hosted yet.
Interests
In my free time, I like to be in beautiful outdoor locations. The best is hiking up mountains to see huge views from the top.
I also like learning about and experiencing different cultures, ways of life, and ways of thinking. Fittingly, I was an (cultural) anthropology major in college.
I suppose both of the above things explain why National Geographic magazines catch my eye. :^)
I also like physical activity and sports, though don't usually get enough. I'm a fan of intelligent conversation as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The single thing that has most changed my life was the book Ishmael (and its sequels). As a result of reading that book the first time, my worldview flipped from the standard Western/civilized one to the opposite. This continuing illumination of what's really happening is not all roses (very far from it), but is real.
I've had the opportunity to experience various societies and lifestyles around the world (including living in a tiny indigenous village for what ended up being close to a year), so I think I can see things from various angles, not just the one I was born into. Hopefully this breeds wisdom in me.
I've flown to lots of places around the U.S. and the world, and love the views from a plane. I always get window seats now (if I can), and take advantage of the free vistas of mountains, lakes, deserts, whatever is below us. I love geography, too, so it's fun to figure out where we are and see with my own eyes topographic features I've only seen before on maps.
